With over a decade of R&D experience, Martina has led innovations from product development to technology optimization, including launching Croatia’s first plant-based product line. Slaven brings strong technical expertise from the meat industry, with a unique talent for “seasoning everything with love.” Ekaterina, a creative mind from the beverage industry, is a true flavor magician, excelling in crafting the perfect taste combinations. Continuing my 15 favourite moments from 15 years at Innovia Technology [post 1/15] In my first year at Innovia I was lucky enough to see the creme egg production line in Bournville. I was convinced that seeing chocolate being made would put me off eating it, but the exact opposite happened. It was my first time seeing how good the ingredients were and I hadn’t expected the chocolate-making process to be so simple. What impressed me most was the process for making creme eggs. First the chocolate is deposited into half-egg moulds, then the fondant is deposited on top, pushing the chocolate just enough to fill the mould. Miraculously the two halves of the mould are brought together before the completed egg starts its journey through the chiller unit. The packaging line is so fast I’ve never really worked out what is going on… seeing the whole line is just mesmerising and of course while you’re watching you’re enjoying the aroma of all your Christmases added together. I am thrilled to say I’ve actually seen the line twice and it was even better second time around. Seeing creme eggs being made sparked a deep interest in food science and the food and beverage sector which continues to this day. I must also say that the Mondelēz International teams I’ve had the privilege of working with have been some of the best I’ve encountered in 15 years (and I’m still hoping I can see the line for a third time!). This year we took an important step forward by launching a new flavor Guava fresh in collaboration with the successful Slovenian rock band MRFY.💥The new flavor quickly became the summer hit and one of our best-selling products. The first batch sold out instantly, which both surprised and excited us! 😲Innovation is not an option, but a necessity. 👉 Why is innovation important? 1. Understanding consumer needs allows us to develop products that truly meet their desires. 2. By constantly innovating, we stay one step ahead of the competition and avoid stagnation. This is how we start the development process for every product we launch. By trying every product on the market (and any market we could be interested in launching into). There's no point in launching something that: A) Is the same as another product out there Or worse... B) Is inferior to another product on the market The next step? We make notes of everything we like (and don't like) about them... And only if we're convinced we can do it better, do we invest time (and money) into exploring it. Because the barrier to entry in CPG is SO LOW compared to some other industries, there is so much innovation. Which is great... But it also means there is a ton of unnecessary innovation (copycat products, inferior products, or products with attributes that consumers don't care about). The photo below was for the initial development phase of our new Juicy Peach flavour where we sampled HUNDREDS of drinks.

Drumroll please… Our partnership between Fonterra and Sharesies to deliver an improved share trading experience for farmers has been named a winner at the Fonterra Horizon Innovation Awards! These internal awards celebrate innovative projects and initiatives across Fonterra’s value chain. The joint project secured first equal in the Innovation and Collaboration Excellence category. As a 100% farmer-owned co-operative, Fonterra relies on its farmer shareholders not just for milk but for capital too. Farmers can hold Fonterra shares equal to 33% of their milk supply, up to a maximum of four times their supply. Previously Fonterra farmers couldn’t trade shares via mobile phone, place orders without funds in their account, or receive price alerts, as well as other limitations.
