As you learned in our last post, since 2022 the business incubator of Evonik, Creavis owns a lab coating line to produce the DURAION® membrane. The DURAION® membrane is an anion exchange membrane that can be used in an electrolyzer to enable the efficient production of green hydrogen. An important parameter for optimizations of the lab line is the minimization of the occurrence of defects in the membrane. At the beginning, we had the challenge that defects needed to be analyzed manually but with the help of the in 2023 founded QC team optimization cycles could be shortened. Annik Stegemann is a member of the QC team. “The most common defect pattens are fuzzes, pin-holes or bubbles and now we can detect them with a camera surveillance system.
