February is declared as low vision awareness month by Prevent Blindness. Statistics show that adults above the age of 40 develop low vision diseases. Some of the highly prevalent low vision diseases are Age-related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) and Glaucoma. Having periodic eye check-ups can be beneficial in preventing these diseases through personalized guidelines and optimal treatment planning to prevent further deterioration. Early diagnosis is critical to timely initiation of the treatment and avoid potential incidents of blindness. The AI-based Software RetCAD™ can support optometrists and ophthalmologists in preventive screening and accurate diagnosis of AMD, DR and Glaucoma. Correct knowledge is important. When it comes about disease, many of us are ignorant abt important aspect of disease. Here is an important information about one such retina treatment, known as PRP or Pan Retinal Photo Coagulation, useful in disease like DIABETIC RETINOPATHY, RETINAL VEIN OCCLUSION, EALES' DISEASE etc. Blindness due to such diseases may lead to blindness, but more importantly, Blindness associated with such diseases is CURABLE, with timely diagnosis and apt treatment, as per advise of ur retina specialist and PRP - Pan Retinal Photocoagulation is one of the mainstay of treatment in armamentarium of retina surgeon. Control of systemic parameter is important. #disease #knowledge #doctor #patient #eyecare #eyecareprofessionals #eyedoctor #retinadoctor #retinasurgeon #diabetes #diabeticretinooathy #DR #DRSCREENING #PREVENTABLE BLINDNESS #diabeticblindness #diabetesandeye #blindnessduetodiabetes #diabeticeyedamage #diabeticretinadamage #drpratikhkshah #retinaexpert #retinaspecialist #vrsurgeons #retinalveinocclusion #Ealesdisease #PRP #prplaser #panretinalphotocoagulation #greenlaser #retinalaser

Posting this for our patients and all healthcare providers. Explore the World of Vascular Health: Discovering Cystic Adventitial Disease (CAD). Have you ever heard of Cystic Adventitial Disease (CAD)? It's a rare condition that affects the blood vessels, often showing up in the popliteal artery, mainly in men. But what exactly is CAD, and why is it important? 🤔 Understanding CAD: Imagine your arteries are like pipes carrying blood throughout your body. CAD adds a twist to this story by causing cysts to form in the outer layer of these pipes. This can lead to a condition where you feel pain or cramping in your legs when you walk or exercise, known as claudication. 🔍 Finding the Clues: CAD can be tricky to diagnose because its symptoms may not fit the usual suspects of artery problems. Providers often use different tools like ultrasound, CT scans, or MRI to catch CAD in action. 🛠️ Treatment Options: So, what can be done about CAD? Well, there are a couple of options. One involves a surgery to remove the cysts, while the other is a less invasive procedure called aspiration, where the cysts are drained. 🔄 What's Next? Even after treatment, CAD might decide to make a comeback, which keeps providers and researchers on their toes, searching for better ways to tackle this condition. 💡 Learning Together: Whether you're someone dealing with CAD or just curious about medical mysteries, our article breaks down the complexities into bite-sized pieces, making it easy for everyone to understand. Amyloid heart disease, also known as amyloid cardiomyopathy, is a condition where abnormal protein fibers called amyloid deposits accumulate in the heart's muscle tissue. This buildup can impair the heart's ability to pump blood effectively, leading to symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and swelling in the legs and ankles. Amyloid heart disease can be caused by various underlying conditions, including inherited disorders, autoimmune diseases, or chronic infections. Early diagnosis and appropriate management are crucial to prevent complications and improve the quality of life for affected individuals. #hearthealth #heart #heartdisease #cardiology #hearthealthy #cardiologist #healthyheart #heartattack #cardio #cardiovascular #doctor #heartdiseaseawareness #cardiovasculardisease #cardiacsurgery #heartbeat #heartsurgery #cardiac #hearthealthawareness #heartfailure #cardiacarrest #ecg #eeg

🌟 THE NEW APPROACH TO AORTIC DISEASES: LENGTH MATTERS! 🌟 🩺 The 2024 EACTS/STS Guidelines bring a groundbreaking shift in managing aortic pathologies: surgical intervention decisions are no longer based solely on diameter. Now, the length of the ascending aorta has emerged as a critical parameter. 🔍 Why does this matter? ✅ An ascending aorta measuring ≥11 cm is linked to a significantly increased risk of adverse aortic events (e.g., dissections). ✅ Using the “Centerline” technique (a central line measurement obtained through CT angiography), predictive sensitivity increases to 28%, far exceeding the 4% predictive power of diameter alone. ⚙️ What is the Centerline technique? This technique maps the aorta’s pathway from the valvular plane to the brachiocephalic artery, offering a precise measurement that surpasses traditional methods. It enables a better assessment of structural anomalies (see images for reference). 🏥 Clinical implications: Aortic dilation and elongation correlate with increased longitudinal stress—a force that can lead to vessel wall ruptures. 👉 The length of the aorta is now a fundamental metric for accurately assessing risks and tailoring treatment decisions to each patient. 📸 Attached image: Source: EACTS/STS Guidelines for Diagnosing and Treating Acute and Chronic Syndromes of the Aortic Organ 2024. 👨⚕️ Learn more on my personal website: www.alessandroarmaro.com 💡 Share this post to raise awareness and foster discussion. #AorticDisease #CardiacSurgery #2024Guidelines #HeartHealth #AorticCare #MedicalInnovation #EACTS #STS
