United States school districts are shifting from summer school to summer learning. Read the second Summer Snapshot report from the Center for Policy, Research, and Evaluation (PRE) at NYU Metro Center. This summer snapshot, the second in a series, focuses on how four of the 100-plus districts in the The Wallace Foundation-funded District Summer Learning Network (DSLN) rely on partnerships with community members, local businesses, and tribal nations to fill gaps in access to summer programs and cultural resources. The informal, close-knit nature of relationships in rural communities has enabled these districts to be creative and flexible in how they form and sustain partnerships. Education isn't just about classrooms. It's the heartbeat of thriving communities. As founder of The Ohio Education Foundation, I've seen firsthand how learning transforms lives: • STEM programs in underserved schools → students pursuing tech careers • Adult literacy classes → increased job readiness and civic engagement • Community learning centers → hubs of lifelong growth and connection But here's the real power: educated individuals become community catalysts. They start businesses. They volunteer. They innovate solutions to local challenges. It's a beautiful cycle of empowerment. What's one way education has strengthened your community? #CommunityDevelopment #EducationImpact #socialsonic

Racial and demographic diversity are very important to colleges and will continue to be, even though SCOTUS ended Affirmative Action in College Admissions last summer. However, colleges also appreciate diversity in other forms, such as unique pursuits, experiences, and perspectives. You cannot change your background or ethnicity, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t bring diverse experiences, viewpoints, appreciation and support for all kinds of populations to a college community. College Bound & Ready advice: Don’t remain in your little demographic bubble; get out in the world. Engage in organizations that uplift communities and make a difference in your own backyard. #college #collegeboundandready #collegeadmission #collegeupdates #collegebound #collegestudent #collegedecision #collegeadmissionupdate #diversity

Attention parents, family members of first-year college students, and higher education professionals! As we enter the month of February, it's important to consider the patterned transition issues that many first-year students may be grappling with. Whether it's homesickness, academic stress, or adjusting to a new social environment, these challenges can be tough to navigate. As a parent or supporter, it's essential to provide a listening ear and offer encouragement to your student. And for those working in higher education, it's crucial to provide resources and support systems to ensure that students feel heard and understood during this time of transition. Remember, the transition to college is a process, and it's normal for students to experience ups and downs along the way. By recognizing the challenges that first-year students face, we can work together to create a supportive and empowering environment for all. #highereducation #college #firstyear #transition #support Innovative Educators XanEdu, Inc., Amy Baldwin, Stephanie Carter Recognize Your Potential Holly Ritzinger

Okay no worries. 🤨 Yes, I used to be frustrated about the "pesty" parents during the enrollment process also... ..that is...until I became one...🫣 Here's a quick tip for ya. #highschoolstudent #admissionstraining #CollegesAndUniversities #dependentstudent

#ICYMI: Annie Kessler, Executive Director of City Year New York, was featured on CBS News last month. She spoke about our work to recruit Student Success coaches to curb the teacher shortage in New York City. "A lot of mentors come in knowing they want to go into education, and we give them experience in the classroom and training to put them on that path. Then we have a lot of young people who come in and they really don't know what they want to do next, and then they decide over the course of the year that education is the career path for them."
