Breathing isn't just about keeping ourselves alive but it's about keeping us healthy physically and emotionally. How many times have you been in deep concentration or overly anxious or stressed and it's felt like you aren't breathing? That's because your breathing is so shallow it's going unnoticed. It's exactly these times when you need to take some time out to get in touch with your breathing. Take some long slow inhalations through your nose, hold and then release slowly through your mouth, expelling the unwanted gases. Try extending the time at all three stages of this exercise. This may feel difficult to start with but your lungs and diaphragm are muscles. Like any muscle, you need to train it, expand and strengthen it. Good breathing techniques will strengthen your well-being, help your body function more effectively and help you sleep more soundly. #breathe #mindset #selfcare
