🌟Did you know?🌟 Transgender adults are twice as likely as cisgender adults to be unemployed.   This is one of the many facts and figures about the reality trans people are going through. Normally when we talk about DEI, we often focus on sexual orientation, and not so much on gender identity. The panel focused on "Building harmony in society" and explored how social policies can shape healthy intergender relationships through cooperation and communication. "Addressing gender inequalities is crucial. We must provide holistic support, including legal regulations and parity in company leadership. Additionally, targeted programs for specific groups, such as single mothers, girls in STEM or women going through menopause, are essential. 🎉 Research Funding Announcement: We are pleased to announce that Esperanza Rivera de Torre has been awarded an Inge Lehmann grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark for her project "The Human Allergen Atlas: High-Throughput Epitopic Characterization of Allergens". This innovative project aims to uncover the biochemical reasons behind allergies, which affect approximately 25% of the population in industrialized countries. By developing high-throughput technology to identify specific protein parts that trigger allergic reactions, Esperanza’s work has the potential to significantly advance our understanding of allergenicity, leading to better treatments, safer foods, and vaccines. This research is funded through the Inge Lehmann Programme, which supports exceptional female researchers and promotes gender equality in science by fostering the career advancement of talented women. Pink October – Initiatives for Women’s Health Worldwide 🌸 Promoting gender equality goes hand in hand with working to improve the health and well-being of women throughout our organisation. This Pink October, through our #SheWINS Employee Resource Group (ERG), we are raising awareness about breast cancer, ensuring that women in our community are informed, supported, and empowered. Throughout Rhenus, we have held informative talks focusing on women’s health, equipping our female staff with essential knowledge on breast cancer prevention. We have collaborated with associations to host #SheWINS roundtables and participated in women’s running events to show solidarity. Employees have worn pink ribbons across business units to raise awareness and hosted webinars with doctors to discuss breast cancer and early detection. Additionally, we have organized talks with gynecologists, focusing on self-examination and the importance of early breast cancer detection. At Rhenus, and through #SheWINS, our ERG dedicated to driving gender diversity and equality, we reflect our ongoing commitment to support and empower the women who drive our success.
