🚆⚡Could last weekend's recent trainline fault encourage the adoption of third rail?⚡🚆 On 26th September, yet another day of travel disruption ensued. Thanks to a fallen tree on the overhead lines in Dumfries and Galloway, some services were cancelled and many others delayed. Disruptions extended all the way to Preston in the North West of England and Leeds in the North East. Major rail companies including TransPennine Express and Avanti West Coast advised travellers to postpone journeys until the next day. With such a disruption from a single tree, could it encourage Network Rail and other line owners to expand on the Third Rail system commonly adopted down south? What do you think?
