On my podcast with Reed Goossens, we discussed the benefits of investing with experts. Reed targets accredited investors—those who understand the benefits of commercial real estate but prefer not to manage it themselves. These investors aim to diversify their portfolios, allocating a portion to commercial real estate. Reed's approach allows these investors to participate in multiple deals. They might invest with him or other sponsors they trust. He emphasized he's not the only sponsor; the Jobs Act allows investors to choose where they put their money. This freedom has transformed the industry over the last decade, empowering retail investors to make informed decisions about alternative asset investing.

The rise of #indexfunds and their impact on active management styles is discussed in Financial Times #unhedged pod. Are you buying America in the case of the S&P 500 or the #magnificent7? Actually, is the only thing you are buying into is the weight of capital? Does this apply to real estate? Active or Passive, if you place your money with more than one discretionary manager in a certain vintage do you just end up with over exposure to the flavour of the month? Much like Microsoft or Apple pull the market to #tech, is Blackstone Real Estate Holdings or LLC or Brookfield Properties real estates gravity that polarises capital? https://lnkd.in/eZT573mj

I’ve been told for years (since I was 22 at least) that I’m stupid for thinking market corrections, even crashes, are good *for a certain group of people.* Namely, young investors looking to get into the market. Market corrections and crashes do suck, but only for one very specific demographic: existing investors *who choose to sell!* Again, because I was/am young I was told I was ignorant, even arrogant, for suggesting such a thing, and that the way young people get into the market is by investing into new companies, praying that they succeed, then trading up to big players when the individual companies have small dip. That unsustainable model get lambasted by Scott Galloway in this episode and I’ve never felt so validated in my view of markets. A great listen, especially if you’re young, looking to invest or expand your portfolio, and wondering what this weeks dip in the markets *probably* means. #futurelooksbright https://lnkd.in/exZerXng
