Through SOI Asia, Keio University has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNESCO to advance sustainable development and open science in Asia Pacific. Under this MoU, both institutions promote a shared vision of mobilizing scientific and technological knowledge for sustainable development through Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and open science. The key highlights of this initiative are: - Strengthen scientific and technical literacy, enforcing the role of ICT and open science in sustainable development. - Enhance higher education access and processes across the region. - Introduce innovations and open science principles to leverage scientific knowledge - Increase public access to knowledge and develop human resources through open science initiatives. SOI Asia, which comprises 28 leading universities and research institutes across 14 Asian countries, offers advanced internet technology and technical resources to support educational advancement in the region. This MoU continues a shared journey of collaboration between SOI Asia and UNESCO that began with a prior MoU signed in 2008. Ecole Polytechnique, a leading academic institution in France has signed ‘specific agreements’ with both IIT-Delhi and IIT-Bombay to foster profound sharing of knowledge between nations. The agreement was signed while the president and Director General of Ecole Polytechnique, Laura Chaubard visited India during 7th-11th October. It is based on the last year’s MoU with IIT-Delhi and IIT-Madras during PM Narendra Modi’s official visit to France on French National day. An agreement with IISc-Bangalore is underway for which common interests on research and academic cooperation have been identified. Russia actively cooperates with other countries in science, education — minister "Moscow State University has reached an agreement with Beijing University to establish an institute for fundamental research, and now this initiative will be implemented," Valery Falkov noted MOSCOW, September 13/ Russia's cooperation with foreign universities in the field of science and higher education is steadily developing, Russian Science and Higher Education Minister Valery Falkov said. "Cooperation with foreign universities is not only continuing but also expanding. It is progressing in various areas, both in higher education and science," he said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 channel. Falkov noted that a number of projects in science and education are underway jointly with BRICS. "In particular, there is a project [with Malaysia] concerning the extraction of collagen from jellyfish from the seas that surround Russia and Malaysia. <…> The grant was received jointly by our countries and has been implemented by our colleagues for three years. New dual-degree educational programs are also being developed in partnership with Malaysian institutions," the minister said. He also highlighted the agreement with China as a significant development. "Moscow State University has reached an agreement with Beijing University to establish an institute for fundamental research, and now this initiative will be implemented," he said. He added that branches of Russian universities in countries such as Uzbekistan and Egypt are progressing well. Falkov recalled that Russia is chairing BRICS this year, and will host "a big conference, a big forum of science ministers of the BRICS countries." "Considering that colleagues will be joining not only from member states of the association but also from countries that have applied and expressed interest in participating, it is already a very significant community. There, we discuss joint projects ranging from a unified university ranking system to the use of mega science, an area in which Russia excels," he said. #business #finance #financialservices
