Want to transform the food system? Talk to a farmer. Want to fund the transition to a new food system? Talk to a farmer. When we kick off RFSI Europe next week in Brussels, that’s exactly what we’ll do. Four regenerative farmers, Benedikt Bösel, Anne van Leeuwen, Isabelle d'Ursel, and Dimitri Tsitos (moderated by Koen van Seijen), will share: 🌾 Why they farm regeneratively and what it means for their operation economically and ecologically 💥 The biggest myth about regenerative farming they want to bust 💡The most important thing they want investors and funders of regenerative agriculture to know Spoiler alert - first insight: While we need to start with and keep the farmer central, we can’t keep asking them to carry the majority of the risk of transition. ⚡ This is going to be an epic conversation! This Native American Heritage Month, we honor the enduring contributions of Native communities to our shared food systems. We recognize that our mission to build resilient regional food systems stands on the foundation of a deep relationship with the land and sustainable agricultural practices that Indigenous wisdom has long nurtured. Diverse farming systems are central to today’s regenerative agriculture movement – but the concept is far from new. For hundreds of years, Indigenous people have developed and practiced methods such as companion planting, seed saving, polyculture, no and low-till methods, agroforestry, and controlled fires to maintain the biodiversity of the land. Learn more about “Tracing Regenerative Farming to its Indigenous Roots" from our friends at Civil Eats.
