Universal Window and Door was featured in High Profile's December Sustainability Issue for contributing their high-performance, triple-pane 1060 Series historic replica windows to WinnCompanies Stone Lofts in Lawrence, one of the first all-electric mixed-income multifamily properties in Massachusetts, which completed the transformation of a 19th-century mill into 86 apartments. Brazilian city approves world’s tallest residential tower The city of Balneário Camboriú in southeast Brazil has approved the construction of the 544m-tall Triumph Tower, which, if completed, would be the world’s tallest residential building. It’s set to be located on the Barra Sul waterfront, already home to some of South America’s tallest buildings, including the two 294m Yachthouse towers and the 290m One Tower. Delivered in collaboration with Mitheridge Capital Management and designed by PLP Architecture, the development will include extensive amenities, including workspaces, resident lounges, communal kitchens, a state-of-the-art gym, and external spaces including a roof terrace and pocket park. This Appeal decision overturning all 16 reasons for refusal by Lambeth Council to re-develop this brownfield site with 24 new apartments and houses in the middle of an urban block on Brixton Hill, Lambeth, London was one of the highlights of last year. I am especially pleased by this result because by the time of the enquiry 6 reasons remained unresolved which were all design related such as character, massing, living conditions and impact on neighbours. The Inspector found the design to be satisfactory in all matters and confirmed that we managed to optimise the capacity of this brownfield site with a high-quality design-led approach. “It (the proposal) therefore complies with Policy Q5 of the L-LP which requires local distinctiveness to be sustained and reinforced and Policy Q7 of the L-LP which requires high quality design.
