I’m excited to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: LifeArc - Life Sciences: Biology Research Job Simulation from Forage! Navigating through the session was challenging, but the example answers and real-life simulations provided invaluable insights into the role of a biology research scientist. This experience not only deepened my understanding of laboratory research but also introduced me to new methods of processing and analyzing scientific data, which differ from the traditional approaches I learned during my academic years. For aspiring biology scientists, I assure you that, although it may take some time to complete, this simulation offers refreshing inspiration and a deeper understanding of biology research! Biology, like any science, is an inquiry-driven, investigative process. A process is something that’s ongoing and involves change. Many students (and even adults) decide before they even start that they won’t understand it and that it’s too hard. Here’s the good news – you actually already know what to do. The approach you need to use to be successful in biology is something you’ve been doing your whole life, since you were a baby, actually. When you were a one-year-old, you tried to fit the different shapes in the holes of a box, right? First, you tried to put the triangle in the square. It didn’t work. You came up with a different hypothesis and gave it a try. You then tried to put the circle into the square hole, that didn’t work either. Did you give up? No, you tried another hole, then another, until you were successful! You kept problem solving. I tell my students, this is the exact same approach you need to take when studying biology. You already know what to do. Don’t doubt yourself! #biology #science #biologyteacher #education

That was my first time being a teaching assistant of the Biology 101 course for foundation year at Zewail City in 2020. Dr Mohamed Elhadidy asked the student to voluntarily write a short paragraph or two on human genome project and its consequences. A very few of them showed up to discuss what they wrote. I was inspired by the peer reviewing process I went through in my very first review article published in 2020 and decided that the students peer review what they wrote for each other :) I set the time and made it as simple as possible to encourage them through the exercise. #scientificwriting #peerreviewing #research

MY EXPERIENCE AS AN UNDERGRADUATE LIFE SCIENCES STUDENT:- Being a Pure Sciences biology student is quite a hassle, as we are often categorized as 'NEET failures,' even though there are many people like me who are genuinely interested in pursuing this field. However, my journey has been nothing short of transformative. The rigorous curriculum has challenged me to think critically and pushed the boundaries of my understanding. One of the highlights has been the hands-on experience in the laboratory. Whether it was studying specimens, observing microscopic organisms, or experimenting with chemical reactions, each practical session brought the textbook theories to life. These experiences not only deepened my knowledge but also ignited a passion for research, leading me to explore areas like molecular biology and genetics. This is what I like about my degree; its interdisciplinary nature has broadened my perspective, making me appreciate the relationships between different disciplines of science. As I continue my studies, I am really looking forward to more exciting opportunities that will help me enhance my knowledge and skills ✨❇️
