🌱Exciting Opportunities in Central Asia's Growing Market for Producers from #Egypt and #Morocco! Central Asia is a dynamic region experiencing remarkable growth in both economy and population. Despite this, it often goes unnoticed by produce traders. With a population comparable to Germany's and a landmass larger than India, Central Asia has seen a significant increase in fresh orange imports in the past five years. Uzbekistan, the world's largest importer of ware potatoes, is witnessing a surge in demand for mandarins, berries, palm dates, avocadoes, mangoes, and more, as incomes rise rapidly. Kazakhstan, the top net importer of fruits and vegetables in the region, boasts the highest per-capita income among former Soviet republics. Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's export market differs notably from Egypt and Morocco, where Egypt has emerged as a key supplier of oranges in the region. To explore these opportunities, the FAO/EBRD Team is facilitating B2B meetings with leading importers and supermarket chain representatives in Uzbekistan and potentially Kazakhstan. Participants will receive comprehensive market insights and have the chance to visit produce traders' facilities and a wholesale market near Tashkent, the capital city. Don't miss out on the chance to tap into the thriving produce market of Central Asia! 🌱🌍 #CentralAsia #FreshProduce #MarketOpportunities #FAO #EBRD #Uzbekistan #Morocco #Egypt #TradeRelations EastFruit

Why Dragonfruit prices in Vietnam increase? Mr. Ho Nam, a trader in Binh Thuan, said "This year’s intense heat and drought have caused many orchards to dry out and trees to die, causing output to drop by 20-30%." General secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association - Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, said between December and May China imports more dragon fruits to meet its demand, and so prices rise during this period. Therefore, prices continuously go up. Another reason for the rising prices is that less dragon fruit is being grown in Vietnam after farmers switched to other crops such as durian and jackfruit in 2023 when prices fell sharply. However, Mr. Nguyen also noted that from June to November, China will be in harvest season, so dragon fruit prices may decrease again. Currently, in addition to the Chinese market, Vietnamese dragon fruit is also exported to many other markets such as UAE, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea... Dragon fruit is one of the fruits that contributes a large market share to Vietnamese fruits and vegetables. In the years before Covid-19, each year export revenue from this fruit reached more than billion USD. However, since Covid-19 until now, China's cultivation has caused the export value to decline sharply, falling out of the "billion dollar club". Data from customs shows dragon fruit exports in the first two months of this year increased by nearly 10% year-on-year to $117 million. Major markets included China, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea. We always commit to providing the best products for our customers. 🌎 Exporting Fresh Fruit to the U.S.: Key Insights 🍊 Enrique Rojas, an international business coordinator at Trade & Business Partners, highlighted at the recent webinar that the U.S. is a vital trade partner for Latin American countries, particularly in the agro-industrial sector. With over 350 million consumers, North America represents the largest fruit and perishable products market in the world. Key considerations for exporters include: Strategic Logistics: Southeast Florida, especially the Port of Miami and the Port of Everglades, is a major entry point. Identifying the right market region is crucial. Market Demand: Each U.S. state has different demands, necessitating clear market segmentation. Regulations: While tariffs are generally low (0% for most fruits), compliance with FDA registration and documentation is essential. Ecuadorian banana exports have surged by 26%, and other fruits like pitahaya and pineapple have seen significant growth. This is a testament to the increasing demand for healthy food options! https://lnkd.in/eZ4H-xaJ #FruitExports #InternationalTrade #AgroIndustry #Ecuador

#EuropeanMarket #ProcessFruitsAndVegetables #SustainableProcessFood #Europe #SangeetaVetal_Lad. Europe is the largest market for processed fruit and vegetables in the world, absorbing more global supplies than any other continent. In 2023, European imports of processed fruit and vegetables represented 42% of global imports in value, followed by Asia (30%), North America (19%), Latin America and Caribbean (4%), Africa (3%) and Oceania (2%). #Germany and the #Netherlands are Europe’s main importers of processed fruit and vegetables, making them interesting focus markets. Both markets have large shares of imports from developing countries. The main difference between the two is that the Netherlands re-exports most imported products. Germany is also a significant re-exporter but also the largest consumer and processor of imported products. France, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain are other promising markets with a large share of imports from developing countries. #PromisingProductsExport to #Europe 1. Frozen/Dried Berries 2. Pickled Cucumber and Gherkins 3. Ground nuts 4. Preserved (Jarred) Paprika and chillies 5. Canned Artichoke hearts 6. pineapple juice Canned Beans 7. Dried Papaya 8. Mango Puree 9. According to a recent report from the International Coffee Organization, the coffee market is facing a worrisome situation. The price of Robusta coffee has reached a 45-year high, indicating a severe supply shortage and an increase in bean hoarding in the world's largest bean producer. In its monthly report, the London-based group updated that their wholesale price gauge based on spot prices across key markets saw a surge of 17% in April, reaching the highest level since 1979. The report also drew attention to Vietnam's coffee belt, which has been struggling with several years of poor harvests. #grow🌱 #agriculture #supplychain #trade #exports #commodities #coffee☕️ #robusta #vietnam🇻🇳 #markets #drought🌵 #nikkei #china🇨🇳 #durian

Hello Durian lovers! Do you love coffee too? Then here is some interesting news. If you’ve been to Vietnam, you know how good their coffee is and how important and proud they are of it. Their cute little coffee shops are amazing, offering a wide variety of coffee drinks, including the famous egg coffee made with Robusta beans. Vietnamese durian exports to China surpassed $2 billion in 2023, more than five times the previous year. With this increase in popularity for durian fruit in China, many coffee farmers in Vietnam have switched to durian cultivation-also partly due to dry weather. Vietnam's coffee production totaled 29 million 60-kilogram bags between October 2022 and September 2023, down 9.8% year-on-year. This trend comes amid a greater supply crunch stemming from the El Nino weather phenomenon, which has caused drought in Southeast Asia. Consumption in Southeast Asia's coffee-producing countries used to be largely of low-grade beans not suited for export. But with the proliferation of Starbucks and other coffee shops, local demand for high-quality beans is growing. #Vietnam #Exports #China #Durian #Coffee #Agriculture #ElNino #SupplyChain #MarketTrends #SoutheastAsia
