France is present in the tropical band of the three oceans: Pacific, Indian and Atlantic, and the sun never sets on our country, which has the second largest maritime area in the world (EEZ), not far behind the United States and well ahead of the Australians. Above all, France has the largest submarine area in the world, including 58,000 km² of coral reefs. In other words, an undervalued and priceless heritage. Particularly, an unexploited heritage! The 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗔𝘇𝘂𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲 was successfully concluded - a pioneering journey to explore one of Europe’s hidden giants: the Gorringe Seamount ⛰️🌊 During 23 days, in-depth scientific work was conducted on the Gettysburg and Ormonde summits, as well as the surrounding pelagic environment. The preliminary results recorded at least 200 species, 40 of which not yet been recorded in this area.
