April is National Volunteer Month, giving you the perfect opportunity to do good in the world whether you have an hour or an afternoon to spend helping others. Here are some fun ways to lend a hand and make an impact on your community: *Park Clean Up - Grab some bags and invite your pals to spend a few hours on trash duty at your favorite green space. *Donate Books - If you have books, magazines or other reading materials collecting dust, put them to good use and donate to a local school or library. *Meals on Wheels - Find a local organization that delivers meals to those in need and see how you can help. Additionally, if you have a friend or neighbor who needs access to food, contact the organization and assist with the paperwork. *Letter Writing – Show members of the military your appreciation with a handwritten letter thanking them for their service and sacrifice. Write a service member you know personally or check out an organization like Operation Gratitude. Include drawings from the youngest members of the family! *Animal Shelter - Help your local animal shelter by donating bags of food, walking animals or taking a dog or cat home for the weekend to give them a break from shelter life. #NationalVolunteerMonth #HelpingOthers #LendAHand

Giving Tuesday is December 3. Through small acts of generosity, we can change our society and change our world. It starts with you. Giving Tuesday is a great day to commit to giving kindness! Shelters are full of loving dogs waiting for their forever homes, and you can help make a difference! Here are some ways to celebrate and support Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month: 🐶 Adopt a dog: Save a life and give a dog the home they deserve. 📢 Spread the word: Let your friends and family know about the importance of adopting pets. 🤝 Volunteer: Help out at your local shelter. The bright lights and fireworks tonight may be thrilling for us, but they can be overwhelming for guide dogs (and all animals) - causing them anxiety or making them want to hide.🐶🎇 You can help your furry friends feel safer during the noise with a few simple steps. 🐾 Exercise Before Dark A good walk before the fireworks start can help your dog feel relaxed. 🍚 Feed Early Give your dog their meal early, so they can settle in before the noise begins. 🏡Create a Safe Space Set up a quiet area with their favourite blanket or toy and maybe play some gentle background noise. 🤗 Stay Calm Act as if everything’s normal to reassure them.
