📢 New Research Alert!! I am excited to share the latest OECD Public Governance Working Paper: “Lack of trust in institutions and political engagement. An analysis based on the 2021 OECD Trust Survey” In this paper, together with Sina Smid and Monica Ferrín we analyse how a lack of trust in public institutions affects democratic governance. Drawing on data from the 2021 OECD Survey on Drivers of Trust in Public Institutions, we explore: ✅ The socioeconomic characteristics of individuals who lack trust. ✅ Their perceptions of political voice. ✅ Their forms of political engagement. At a time when political polarisation, mis- and disinformation, and declining public trust are global challenges, understanding these dynamics is critical. The paper also highlights actions governments can take to strengthen citizen engagement in policymaking.
