OECD Public Governance’s Post

OECD #Youth Policy Toolkit 📢 A Better Future for Young People in Ageing Societies In a rapidly evolving world shaped by green and digital transformations, demographic shifts, and economic challenges, young people face unique hurdles - and are more likely than other age groups to express low trust in government. To help them become independent and participate in economic, public, and social life, governments must adopt comprehensive, whole-of-government approaches that support skills development, quality employment, social inclusion, mental health, and meaningful youth participation and representation. The OECD Recommendation on Creating Better Opportunities for Young People (2022) promotes such a government-wide strategy, offering policy standards that help improve outcomes for youth. To turn this vision into action, today we launched the Youth Policy Toolkit - a resource designed to provide policy makers with practical, hands-on guidance. With examples of good practices from all 38 OECD countries, the Toolkit covers critical areas including: ➡️ Skills and competencies ➡️ Youth labour market outcomes and entrepreneurship ➡️ Young people’s social and health outcomes ➡️ Young people’s trust in government and relationship with public institutions ➡️ Administrative and technical capacities to address age-based inequalities By providing policy makers and practitioners with actionable insights, the Toolkit aims to help young people reach their full potential and foster a future where they are active, confident participants in public, social, and economic life.
