IDTechEx’s new report, “Electric Light Commercial Vehicles 2025-2045: Markets, Players, Forecasts,” expects this trend to continue – with regulation being a key driver for electric LCV market growth in the short- and medium-term future. Here is a quick roundup of things I've liked over recent weeks: 1️⃣ MAGTEC/Magnetic Systems Technology Ltd have published a report on their project building and deploying 10 eHGVs. The report shares what they and their partners have learnt whilst deploying electric HGVs with NHS Wales, as part of a project funded by the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom. 2️⃣ The first of many DfT-funded Zero Emission HGV and Infrastructure Demonstrators vehicles has started operating with AF Blakemore & Son Ltd. More here: https://lnkd.in/dvRuA2cX. 3️⃣ Just by chance, I saw an electric coach out and about on the road, doing what it does best. It's a FlixBus vehicle and part of this pilot project https://lnkd.in/d2SvuVdP. It is operated by Newport Transport Ltd and was written about by The Independent recently (https://lnkd.in/d2p7qqF8). 4️⃣ While I can't walk down my road without seeing several electric cars, spotting zero emission articulated HGVs in the wild is pretty rare. However, I saw two within 24hrs of each other. They were both DAF CF Electrics, and they have been operating commercially with FSEW International Freight Forwarders for two and a half years (https://lnkd.in/d9tnEpAS). It might have been the same vehicle twice, but everyone says they have to charge constantly so is that even possible??!! 5️⃣ I did a seven-hour EV drive and stopped for only NINE minutes to rapid charge. I travel by train when I can but I couldn't that day. It is always reassuring to see that long journeys don't mean long stops.
