🌞Queensland🌞 Great lifestyle, thriving communities, and a bright future. Looking ahead, we’re supporting our growing communities and industries by ensuring the right projects are delivered at the right time. If a project is identified as being particularly significant for either economic growth or to improve the liveability of our regions, and it meets certain other criteria, it can be declared as a ‘prescribed project.’ This means the Coordinator-General can use his unique powers to intervene, if necessary, in state and local government approval processes to ensure the important project is delivered without delay. These are projects like: 🔹Copperstring 2032 🔹Vecco Critical Minerals Project 🔹Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct These projects deliver real benefits for the regions, and we’re proud to be playing a role in helping set Queensland up for a bright and prosperous future! You can read more about the prescribed project process here: https://lnkd.in/g2KVDnyp

I am excited to share that I'll be speaking at the upcoming Australasian Land & Groundwater Association (ALGA) Newcastle Branch Event on "Mine Closure: From Conceptual Designs to Detailed Execution"! It’s a topic I'm passionate about, and I am hoping to share some insights from our IEMA - Integrating Environment, Business & Community experience in managing mine closure projects in Australia and New Zealand. 🔍 We'll explore everything from the initial planning stages to the detailed execution strategies, discuss the technical challenges, and consider the future of post-mining land use. Whether you’re deeply involved in environmental management, technical studies or interested in sustainable land use planning, I hope there's something valuable to take away for everyone. #MineClosure #EnvironmentalManagement #Networking #NewcastleEvent#MineClosure #EnvironmentalManagement #Networking #NewcastleEvent #SustainableDevelopment #LandRehabilitation #UrbanPlanning #TechnicalConsulting #IndustryEvent #ProfessionalGrowth #EcoInnovation #Sustainability

The memorandum of agreement signed by Aboitiz Equity Ventures (AEV), Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), and San Miguel Corp. (SMC), led by the Department of Environment and Natural Reources (DENR) and the Department of Energy (DOE), is dubbed as a 'first big step' toward conserving VIP, but the massive gas operations of these companies in the marine corridor itself undermines the objective of protecting it. The companies recently teamed up to establish the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Batangas province, part of the Verde Island Passage. “If SMC, AEV, and MPI are genuine in their ‘joint stewardship’, building a multibillion gas project that would only bring harm to the VIP shouldn’t push through in the first place,” said Gerry Arances, co-convenor of Protect VIP and executive director of sustainability think-tank Center for Energy, Ecology, and Development. Lerwick Harbour’s already extensive decommissioning capabilities have been further enhanced with around a million pounds investment by recent arrival, Phoenix Decom Ltd, at Greenhead Base. It follows completion by Lerwick Port Authority of a 2,400 square metre heavy-duty pad for Phoenix to dispose of offshore industry waste materials located at Greenhead berths six and seven. The leased site is seen as a key to future company growth and job creation. The decommissioning waste specialist’s investments include a new material handler, a mobile shear unit to improve safety by reducing manual handling, and a decontamination system enclosing a cleaning unit reducing risk and environmental aspects. Read more from Port Authority Chief Executive, Captain Calum Grains on the importance of the evolving facilities and services at Lerwick required to meet the industry’s increasing decommissioning requirements: https://buff.ly/4dFo2cV #Lerwick #lerwickharbour #Shetland #decommissioning #investment #portimprovements #commercialharbour #Shetlandeconomy #economicgrowth

We think the future is looking mighty bright in Queensland.🌞 UGL and CPB Contractors representatives from the CopperString 2032 project team recently attended the Queensland Major Contractors Association (QMCA) 2024 Queensland Major Projects Pipeline Report breakfast in Townsville. It was great to hear about the promising pipeline of projects planned for the coming years in North and North West Queensland. CopperString is a once-in-a-generation project, and it will connect the North West Minerals Province to the National Electricity Market (NEM) for the first time in Australia’s history. It will enable many other projects, including critical mineral exploration and renewable energy developments. Construction of the project will also provide opportunities for local and Indigenous businesses to be involved in the supply chain, attract skilled workers, and provide skill development along the project corridor. #unitewiththeverybest #CPBinConstruction #CopperString2032 #CopperString #PowerlinkQueensland #UGLCPBContractorsJointVenture
