Education with Reconciling the past- John Chabot Are you interested in learning more about the Orange Jersey Project, 'Every Child Matters,' which involves hockey, football, and lacrosse? This past September, we met John Chabot at the 2nd Annual Every Child Matters Hockey game in Kamloops. John had previously visited Williams Lake to document Phyllis Webstad and Tyler and Amanda Fuller, co-founders of the Orange Jersey Project a project through the Orange Shirt Society. John highlighted the project's importance and historical background. With Jeremy and Michael at the helm, the project has seen significant success, with our learning platform now live, tailored for ages 5-25, and narrated by Simon Baker, effectively conveying the Indian Residential Schools' history. If you missed the episode here is the link it was featured on APTN. #simon baker Learn more about the Orange Jersey Project https://lnkd.in/ggpnhndh A Good Game Orange Shirt episode 11- https://lnkd.in/gjZYq5Ea

Celebrating the Unsung Heroes – Parents of Young Footballers ⚽👨👩👧👦 Football is more than just a game – It’s a journey 🛤️ And parents are the foundation of this journey 🏠 They are the ones who: 🚗 Drive their children to early morning training sessions, weekend matches, and tournaments. 📅 Juggle work schedules and personal commitments to ensure their child gets every opportunity to grow in the sport. 💪 Motivate their kids during tough days, reinforcing that failure is part of the process. 🤝 Teach values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance that extend far beyond the pitch. At DPDL, we recognize that a young footballer’s development requires more than talent alone. It demands: 🛡️ Unwavering support: Parents who believe in their child’s dreams even when challenges arise. ⏳ Patience: Knowing that growth takes time, both as an athlete and a person. 📈 Commitment: Staying invested not just in matches won, but in lessons learned. Your involvement does more than help build better footballers; it shapes the future generation of responsible and resilient individuals 🌱 We thank every parent for being the backbone of this journey 🙏 Because without you, many dreams wouldn’t be possible ✨ Here’s to every football parent ❤️ #DPDL #GrassrootsToProBoots #ParentsMatter #GrassrootsFootball #TalentDevelopment #Football #FootballJourney #5YearsOfDPDL

There’s nothing quite like the power of extra-curricular clubs. Take our newly formed basketball team. I don’t teach any of these students on the timetable, in fact nowadays I mostly teach Maths and not PE - yet every week, they show up together—committed to training, playing, and growing as a team. Extra-curricular clubs create opportunities that go far beyond the activity itself. They allow students to build connections with each other and with staff in a way that can’t always happen in the classroom. These moments foster teamwork, resilience, and a sense of belonging that makes a real difference. The impact goes even further. These activities improve attendance by giving students something to look forward to. They boost well-being for everyone involved—students and staff alike. For me, seeing their dedication and energy every week is a reminder of why these opportunities matter so much. Whether it’s basketball, art, music, or any other club, extra-curricular activities are where some of the most powerful learning and growth happens. They bring the school community to life in the best possible way. https://lnkd.in/e-sjYG99

Exciting Changes to Our Training Sessions Over the past few months, our Junior training sessions have welcomed a growing number of new children. We've now reached a point where nearly 30 kids are attending each session. To better accommodate everyone, we're making some important changes at Ardwick Sports Centre: - Splitting Monday Night Lion Cubs Training: - Ages 9 and Under: 6:30pm - 7:30pm - Ages 10 and Over: 7:30pm - 9:00pm - Merging Wild Lions and Lions Black: - New session time: Sundays at Atherton Roller Rink, 7pm - 8:30pm (Start date to be confirmed soon). Until we have this date confirmed we will hold the joint season at Ardwick Sports Centre on a Monday night 9:00pm until 10:30pm. - Saturday Training Changes: - Introductory session for new players and skills session for existing Lion Cubs. - Maximum of 25 players on a first-come, first-served basis. By making these changes, we can offer more focused and effective coaching, reduce waiting times, and provide more one-on-one training opportunities. This will help all players improve their skills and ensure our Wild Lions and Lions Black players can progress together. We understand these changes might not suit everyone's schedule, but they are essential for the growth and development of our Junior teams, especially during this record-breaking season with 8 teams competing in 7 different leagues. Payment Information: - November payment plans remain the same. - Refunds are available for those who can't make the new schedule. - Junior training costs will stay the same, but we may increase Wild Lions and Lions Black fees by £5 per month from December (review pending). For any questions, please message our coaches in Spond or catch them at the next training session. Your support and understanding are greatly appreciated as we make these improvements. #LionsInlineHockeyClub #JuniorTraining #ExcitingChanges 🏒

What is a conversation middle school student-athletes need to have with their parents over the Holiday/Christmas break? A conversation about going for college athletic scholarships. Your children have two weeks off from school for the Holiday/Christmas break. This is a great time for parents to discuss their children’s future in sports with them. The college athletic scholarship process starts in middle school and not high school. The college athletic scholarship decision impacts other possible investments parents and their children decide to make. Parents and children deciding to go for college athletic scholarships may invest in travel ball, summer camps, sports performance coach, and different high schools to improve their chances of getting college athletic scholarships. #studentathlete #athlete #studentathletes #athletes

🏀 The Value of High School Athletes 🏀 When college programs recruit a high school player, they’re doing their homework: ✅ Talking to high school coaches ✅ Connecting with AAU coaches & skills trainers ✅ Hosting players on campus for visits, camps, and home games ✅ Spending time with their families By the time a high school athlete signs their NLI, programs know what they’re getting. High school players matter. They’re a vital part of college basketball recruiting and are held in the highest regard by coaches who do it right. #BasketballRecruiting #HighSchoolBasketball #CollegeBasketball #NLI #RecruitingProcess #PlayerDevelopment
