Every startup, regardless of its focus, has an impact on the world and can benefit from emphasizing climate aspects. In the coming years, being climate-friendly will be crucial, and showcasing your startup's positive impact is key. You can’t go around it anymore. Globally, 85% of people have shifted their purchase behavior towards being more sustainable – people want sustainable products. Yesterday, I had an insightful discussion with the students of Sofaer Global MBA at Tel Aviv University. We talked about Climatech, why entrepreneurs should climate-up their startups and the importance of making them climate-friendly. By showcasing your startup's climate aspects, you can demonstrate your commitment to protecting the environment and reducing your carbon footprint, differentiating your business from competitors, and creating a positive brand image. This international program, focused on new venture creation, innovation, and entrepreneurship, brings together students from around the world, to learn from the Israeli entrepreneurship and tech ecosystem. Some of these bright minds will even join us at Capital Nature for internships, and we're excited to host them. #ClimateTech #IsraeliTech #GreenStartups

“Technology is neither good nor bad; it's the wielder who determines its morality. In the hands of the virtuous, it can illuminate the world. In the hands of the unscrupulous, it can cast darkness.” When I first chose to take the mod #ET5135 Business Venture Implementation under NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur), I thought I would dread the 9am-5pm Saturday classes. But Kat Neo and Jackie passionately shared their experience in the deep tech industry. This module taught me key steps to securing business fundings and devising a MOAT to ensure constant growth in the business venture. Key takeaways from this module: 1️⃣ the importance of conducting a thesis deep-dive Thorough research and analysis are vital for laying the foundation of a successful venture. By dissecting your thesis, you gain insights into market positioning, target audience, competition, and unique value proposition. Though time-consuming, these deep dives pave the way for sustainable growth and long-term success 📈📈 2️⃣ how one’s brand archetype plays into other aspects of brand marketing As an enthusiast in brand marketing, delving into the 12 brand archetypes and their impact on communication channels and tone has been truly enlightening. For instance, for a wellness company like WWF, adopting the “Caregiver” archetype was most apt. This approach entails empathetically understanding consumers' needs and offering meaningful support. The tone in their copywriting often exudes warmth, evoking a sense of comfort and connection with readers. Applying these principles in my upcoming internship opportunity is sure to enhance my marketing skills ☀️🌷 3️⃣ deep tech Deep tech encompasses a wide range of cutting-edge technologies with profound implications for various industries and societal domains. Embracing the breadth and depth of deep tech requires a holistic approach that balances innovation with responsibility, fostering collaboration, dialogue, and collective action to maximise its positive impact while minimising risks. By harnessing the full potential of deep tech in a thoughtful and inclusive manner, we can unlock new frontiers of knowledge, drive sustainable progress, and shape a brighter future for generations to come. I’ll definitely be applying these not only in my future business pitches, but also when I plan to start my own company when I make my debut as an entrepreneur! 💫 #NTUsg #NTUpreneur #entrepreneurship #ET5135 #venture #startup #entrepreneur #marketing

🌟 Exciting Internship Experience with Italian Angels for Growth (IAG) 🌟 I am delighted to share my recent journey as an intern, collaborating with Italian Angels for Growth (IAG) for my project work. This experience has been incredibly enriching, providing valuable insights into the world of startups and the factors influencing their success. 📚 Project Work Overview: My project, titled "Come diventare un unicorno," explores the dynamics of startups by analyzing three companies funded by IAG, each with different outcomes—success, survival, and failure. The goal was to identify the key factors that contribute to a startup reaching a valuation of $1 billion. 🔍 Key Findings: Success Factors: The project identifies crucial criteria used by business angels to evaluate startups, such as team composition, market potential, business model, product innovation, intellectual property defense, and scalability. Startup Analysis: The analysis included detailed case studies of three startups—Winegrid, ProxToMe, and 1000Farmacie. Each case study highlighted different aspects of startup development and performance. Winegrid: Focused on innovative IoT solutions for winemaking but struggled due to intense competition and challenges in market penetration. ProxToMe: Aimed to revolutionize digital content sharing via Bluetooth and cloud technology, yet faced difficulties due to high competition and insufficient market appeal. 1000Farmacie: Successfully adapted an established European business model to the Italian market, emphasizing customer focus and leveraging network effects. 💡 Learning Outcomes: This project underscored the importance of lean thinking, customer-centric approaches, and the ability to adapt business models to local markets. It also highlighted the significance of a proactive mindset and the ability to seize unexpected opportunities. I am deeply grateful for the support and guidance of my academic tutor, Prof. Lucia Tajoli, and my business mentor, Ing. Alberto Stuflesser. Their insights were invaluable in navigating the complexities of this research. This internship has not only deepened my understanding of the startup ecosystem but also fueled my passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. I am excited to apply these learnings in future endeavors and contribute to the growth of the startup community. #internship #startup #innovation #entrepreneurship #leanthinking #IAG #businessgrowth #unicornstartups

Last week, I graduated from Yale University as an engineering major while building Spur (YC S24) in Y Combinator with my co-founder and best friend Anushka Nijhawan. Here are three crucial lessons we learned during this process: #1 Forget dating, find a co-founder 🧡 College is the best time to nurture the strongest relationships with your future co-founders. Anushka and I met in our freshman year of college and have been building together ever since. #2 Look beyond college: Throw yourself into high-growth opportunities 📈 - Apply and do VC Fellowships (Pear VC, Kleiner Perkins, Neo Scholars) - Intern at a Big Tech Company (Snap) - Intern at a Growth Stage Company (Figma) #3 Focus on building 🛠️ There’s no time like college to experiment with building — we worked on a variety of projects from consumer social apps to B2B tools. Doing a startup right out of college can be daunting. I plan to write about Anushka and my journey as we continue building Spur. This will be a depiction of our very real and raw journey from incorporation, managing finances, to applying for our O1 visas, closing our first few customers, and beyond… p.s. I am not suggesting that startups are the ONLY valuable thing you could do post college, just sharing my experience here. As long as you are passionate and happy with your work, it does not matter what that work really is! If you are interested, we would love to keep you in the loop! 1. Send me a LinkedIn invite if we are not connected 2. Comment "#spur" and I will remember to ping to you once our blog is out #ycombinator #startups #fundraising #entrepreneurship #gpt #openai
