We are receiving a lot of enquiries to support with CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisim). I have attached some useful information. Please feel free to reach out should you require support around this area. CBAM has been created by the EU and is the world's first carbon border tax. To be precise (CBAM) operates by imposing a charge on the embedded carbon content, of CBAM designated imports, that is equivalent to the charge required for the same materials resulting from industries subject to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). - CBAM applies to sectors such as Cement, Iron and steel, Aluminium, Fertilisers, Hydrogen and Electricity. Notably, many inquiries are originating from sectors that use Iron, steel, aluminium or cement in their manufacturing, distributing, spares and exporting processes. #CBAM #CarbonBorderAdjustmentMechanism #Imports #Manufacturing #Sustainability

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) is calling for a major change! Operating under an Act established in 1978, the NSC recognizes the need to align with modern maritime developments. The goal? To transform the NSC into a fully empowered regulatory agency capable of driving Nigeria's maritime and blue economy sectors forward. With a new Bill already passed by the House of Representatives and awaiting Senate approval, this move will provide the necessary legal backing for the Council to regulate effectively and promote growth. But that’s not all! The NSC’s efforts in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) have saved the country over N6 billion this year alone! And with more training and capacity building, the future looks even brighter. Let’s support this drive for progress and a stronger maritime industry! Together with key stakeholders like the Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA), the NSC is working to protect shippers, facilitate trade, and ensure fair competition. Stay tuned for updates as we navigate towards a more efficient maritime sector in Nigeria! #NigeriaMaritime #MaritimeSector #NSC #BlueEconomy #ADR #TradeFacilitation #ShippersCouncil #Nigeria

The Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF): 21 Years of Promises, Zero Progress? For over two decades, indigenous shipowners have waited for the disbursement of the much-touted Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF)—a fund designed to empower Nigerian maritime operators to acquire vessels and thrive in the cabotage trade. Yet, frustration runs high as the cycle of promises continues. Despite NIMASA's recent call for expressions of interest from financial institutions to act as Primary Lending Institutions (PLIs), shipowners are sceptical. 💬 “It’s motion without movement. Seminars, sweet speeches, and no action for over 20 years,” laments Otunba Sola Olatunji, a veteran shipowner. 🚨 The Industry’s Cry for Change Shipowners are demanding: ✅ Transparency in CVFF management. ✅ A clear disbursement framework—like the success story of the Nigerian Content Development Fund. ✅ Maritime professionals in leadership roles to drive real progress. What’s at stake? 📉 A neglected sector with untapped economic potential. 📈 A chance to build fleets, create jobs, and grow Nigeria’s maritime economy. The call is clear: Stop the rhetoric, and deliver results! It’s time to turn promises into progress. 🛳 Do you believe the CVFF can transform Nigeria’s maritime sector, or is it just another broken record? Share your thoughts below! 👇 #MaritimeNigeria #CVFF #NIMASA #ShippingIndustry #Cabotage

✅(part 1) of Navigating the Financial Impacts of CBAM The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) poses significant logistical and operational challenges. Many companies are grappling with the detailed and extensive data required, often beyond their direct control. This unexpected complexity has led to delays and non-compliance. Financial Impact of CBAM The financial implications of CBAM are substantial, especially for the steel and aluminium sectors: ✅Steel: Import costs from major non-EU countries could rise by up to 56% for India and 49% for China by 2034. ✅Aluminium: Import costs could increase by around 17% from China and over 40% from India. Understanding and preparing for these impacts is crucial for compliance and financial stability. #CBAM #Sustainability #Finance #Compliance #ClimateChange

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency should immediately wade on the recent restrictions imposed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) on bunkering vessels, in line with its mandate for shipping development. At the time that this country is trying to develope it's Maritime GDP, ease of operating vessels should be a priority to the marine and Blue Economy Ministry.
