Walmart and Unity are teaming up to bring immersive commerce to more virtual worlds. Once available, Unity developers will be able to integrate Walmart’s commerce APIs natively into their projects, allowing players to buy physical goods from Walmart — without ever leaving the game. Walmart's provision of APIs and SDKs for integration with Unity adds another layer of possibilities, potentially enabling a seamless connection between the XR space and Walmart's extensive product offerings. The ongoing launch of new MR (Mixed Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) devices by major brands contributes to the evolution of XR technology. This creates a foundation for innovative scopes, including immersive shopping experiences 👌✌️
I've been telling my company for many years this was an inevitable future market - happy to see it happen somewhere 🪄✨
I’ve imagined going grocery shopping from comfort of home but still in an spatial and immersive environment so that I can get the experience of being reminded what I need! As the saying goes - You don’t go to Costco knowing what you need, Costco tells you what you need. And in this case, Walmart. Next up, Target (especially for those of us in Canada who would like to wander the isles of Target from afar). So let’s get digital twin stores, with real checkouts. Although, let’s just improve checking out - just zap the whole cart and boom, it’s now on your cell, and boom, Apple Pay, and it’s being Instacarted to your actual house. Let me tell you, working parents everywhere will use this. Especially if you let us access the same prices and deals of in store.

Innovations are the driving force of progress and visuals are integral to every innovation ✨ Now games along with visual commerce..!
What kind of dystopian hell do we live in these days.
Love it when brands shorten that path to purchase. Not so good news for my wallet though.

10moInterested to understand the monetization model from the Unity side. I see the upside for Walmart, creators seem to get a commission. Unity ends up being a bit of a “marketplace” - there should be monetization there, no?
