During the course of your lifetime some of your support systems will just dry up. Certain circles might no longer share the same interest or values. Disconnecting is always an option, but so is changing your expectations. For example, if alcohol is a destructive pattern, you may need to disconnect from happy hour friends or your wine tasting club. On the other hand, if you find your family is no longer the rock solid support system they once were, but you cannot or do not want to disconnect from them, you can reset your expectations. If they are unable or unwilling to give you the support you need, stop looking for support there. https://lnkd.in/eSN-VGC #100YearLifestyle

I've been trying to truly nail this point home these past couple of weeks. Here's another swing of the hammer: Everything the Co-BREW-nity serves to its customers - whether it's in a glass or on a plate - is only half the equation. Yes, your beer, food, and spirits have to be good. I've been taking that for granted - because I can't help anyone with that. But! Even if your IPA has just won beer of the year, the fact remains, I can buy beer anywhere. I can buy good beer almost anywhere. I should shell out for your fancy IPA just because some beer snobs slapped a ribbon on it? I think not. It would be arrogant to rely on the taste of your beer, food, wine, etc. The best spots give customers infinitely more than that. They make people feel something. That might sound a little sappy, but as everyone knows, people spend their money emotionally. If you allow people to connect emotionally with your establishment, that's it. You've won. Whether it’s the familiar smell of malt in the air or the knowledge that a friendly face will be at the bar, it’s - ultimately - the entire package that crafts a fan. I'm pointing out breweries in particular, but this applies elsewhere. The Co-BREW-nity experience is something that grows and gets better over time, like the perfectly aged whiskey or something else that takes a while. It's the bond you reinforce every time a customer returns to you. AND IT REALLY SHOULD BE a bond that is also reinforced with every post you share on the socials and every email you send. Those avenues are now considered a part of your story. If your story looks incomplete, you are missing out on an opportunity to further connect with your audience in a more personal, emotional way. In other words, you are leaving money on the table. Cheers.

A recent presidential candidate history of drinking alcohol https://lnkd.in/ejNkntrh 2012: Obama — “But rather than sticking to one signature drink, Obama's choices are varied: beer, wine, martinis, sparkling wine, margaritas. On a date night with the first lady in New York at Blue Hill, a West Village eatery, Obama opted for a wine that accompanied the five-course tasting menu, while Michelle sipped on two martinis.” Romney — lifetime religious abstainer 2016: Trump — lifetime abstainer Hillary — secret alcoholic? C’mon. https://lnkd.in/eQDWa5tX National Review — “It is fair to ask of the nation’s press corps how much information about Clinton’s drinking they withheld from the public.” 2020: Trump — lifetime abstainer Biden — lifetime abstainer 2024: Trump — you know Harris — oenophile “A former member of the Congressional Wine Caucus, which advocates for U.S. winemakers, Harris knows her sauv b's from Sancerres.” https://lnkd.in/epZXwDWc Queries: Why do non-kooky long-lived smart well-off people insist on consuming alcohol? Don’t people like that usually do the most enjoyable and healthy things? Is it a recommendation for you that neither Trump nor Biden has ever consumed alcohol? Looking at this list, all things considered, would you invariably vote for the drinker?
