Are electricians in demand in USA? Employment of electricians is projected to grow 6% annually until 2032 — twice the rate of all other occupations — with about 73,500 job openings each year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The shortage of skilled workers, particularly carpenters, persists, with over 60% of builders reporting shortages according to the National Association of Home Builders. To attract and retain workers, many employers are raising wages, providing a favorable outlook for carpenters. 550,000: That's how many plumbers the US is expected to be short of in 2027, according to an analysis by John Dunham & Associates, a research company in Longboat Key, Florida. $33 billion: The economic cost of the plumber shortage in 2022, as measured by the same report.
