Exciting news and further progress for our proposed #peaking #gas #power #plant with Strike Energy entering into a $48.5 million contract with Clarke Energy for 20 of the 4.5MW Jenbacher gas reciprocating #engines as well as commissioning services at our South Erregulla project. Reciprocating gas engines have been preferred over turbine #technology due to their higher #efficiencies and quicker start-up and response times, which suits the peaking role that this power plant will fulfill. The Jenbacher reciprocating gas engines are a proven conventional technology with over 1GW of generation in Australia alone. These facilities often utilize modular designs and innovative technologies to liquefy natural gas at or near the point of consumption, enabling flexible distribution and access to regions not served by pipelines or large-scale LNG terminals. Small-scale LNG plays a vital role in meeting the growing demand for natural gas in remote areas, maritime transportation, and industries seeking cleaner fuel alternatives. After more than 50 years of oil and gas production, the diversification of the offshore energy sector continues, and now the basins are being developed to become power hubs, integrating large scale offshore wind projects, developing grids and pipelines to neighboring countries, electrifying oil and gas production platforms, developing infrastructure for carbon, capture, transportation, and storage, and making plans for hydrogen and ammonia supply chains.
