Reflecting on an incredible experience at the EAS Congress in Xiamen, China! 🌏 This year’s theme on synergy and collaboration for a more sustainable and resilient future resonated deeply with OSRL's commitment to regional and global preparedness. In collaboration with GISEA, we delivered a hands-on workshop for governmental agencies and stakeholders, focusing on the power of collaboration in building effective oil spill preparedness and response systems. Our Engagement Director, Darren Waterman, participated in a thought-provoking plenary panel, where he shared OSRL's insights on the global challenges and local solutions shaping the future of oil spill response. A huge thank you to our dedicated team - Lim Wei Yao Derrick, James Tan, and Norman Ramos, MBA, CMCE—who represented OSRL with passion and expertise! And thank you PEMSEA for providing this great platform for knowledge exchange. We’re excited to continue working with partners across the region 💪 #osrl #oilspillresponse #osrlengage

You will see that prioritizing Indigenous consent really sells itself. There are many success stories, including projects that the First Nations Major Projects Coalition has helped to support our members. We are living proof: if we walk this common path together we will create new ideas and perspectives.” - Sharleen Gale, Board Chair, FNMPC Centered on four central themes: - Indigenous Consent-driven Project Governance and #Policy, - Critical #Minerals, - The #Energy Transition, and - Financing Indigenous Ownership in Major Projects This report speaks to the dynamic role Indigenous nations are taking as Canada’s projects evolve and the future, driven by Indigenous knowledge, perspectives, and partnerships. I'm looking forward to facilitating a day of discussions with EU and Canadian governmental and industry stakeholders about reducing fugitive methane emissions under the banner of OGMP 2.0 in Calgary next week. Sign up: https://lnkd.in/g2NvDpnd Among the morning's speakers will be: • Marc D'Iorio , Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Technology, ECCC • Giulia Ferrini, OGMP 2.0 Program Manager, IMEO, UNEP • Liz O'Connell, CEO, Arolytics • Allison Fisher, Principal Methane Program Manager & Team Lead, Shell The afternoon focuses on programs that provide funding for methane abatement programs. Fugitive methane emissions abatement is low-hanging fruit, OGMP 2.0 provides a clear pathway to leading practices, and the EU's carbon border adjustment will start penalizing exporters with high emissions in 2026. There's a lot of automation, technology and operational processes that need skilled vendors. If you are a tech or consulting organization in Calgary, consider attending for that reason alone. #methane #climateaction #business #export

This was a moment filled with promise and shared vision, bringing a warm wave of nostalgia and accomplishment. Coincidentally it was the same room and similar moments in year 2016 when GMN was launched. It allowed to reflect on the work and growth of the MTCC's and the journey we've undertaken, reinforcing the lessons learned and the bonds we've built along the way. By working together GMN is fostering collaboration, partnerships, knowledge sharing, and technology uptake, creating a more inclusive technological ecosystem that empowers local maritime stakeholders and accelerates growth. #PowerofPartnerships #CollaboratetoInnovate MTCC Africa @MTCC Asia MTCC Caribbean MTCC Latin America @MTCC Pacific
Technology is a vital tool to ensure that Member States will be able to meet the decarbonization targets that they have agreed to under the 2023 IMO GHG Strategy. We were very pleased to host representatives from the five Maritime Technologies Cooperation Centres (MTCCs) at IMO this week - they signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for inter-MTCC cooperation. Under the agreement, signed on the sidelines of IMO’s Technical Committee meeting, the signatories pledge to increase knowledge sharing to help accelerate decarbonization technology uptake in the five regions (Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America and the Pacific). Speaking at the signing, IMO’s Dr Jose Matheickal said, “Collaboration between the five MTCCs will help bridge the knowledge and technology gaps between the global north and global south.” Signing for the MTCCS were: Mr John Odira Omingo for MTCC Africa, Prof. Shi Xin for MTCC Asia, Professor Stephen Joseph for MTCC Caribbean, Professor Víctor Luna Barahona for MTCC Latin America, and Jens Kruger for MTCC Pacific. #SharingShipTechnology #MaritimeCentres #Shipping #Decarbonization #IMO #TechnicalCooperation #GlobalProject #Technology MTCC Africa MTCC Caribbean MTCC Latin America

The just-released advertising about "Cepsa becomes Moeve" using #Dinosaurs farewell reminded me of my keynote presentation at the bSI International Summit – Marrakesh 2024. At the beginning of October, I talked about the challenge of delivering a #global #fair #energy_transition. The joke was about this "Dinosaur" 🦖 in the room. Still, I don't believe in throwing meteors... However, it is time to change, and #digital #openBIM #interoperability is a key element in this #energy_transition. SWM and VEI extend partnership for 5 years On 11 June, SWM and VEI extended its ongoing partnership with another 5 years. The MoU was signed by SWM director Clifton Lienga and VEI CEO Toine Ramaker, witnessed by Mrs Ashwinie Boedhoe-Hemai, director Strategy & Policies (SWM), Mr. F. Crisis, director Finance (SWM), Mrs. Annette Ottolini (Evides Waterbedrijf), Mr. Jelle Hannema (Vitens) and Mr. André van Beek (VEI). The signing ceremony was one of the many highlights during the visit of VEI’s shareholders to SWM and underlined the productive partnership that already exists for several decades. Reflections and best practices were shared about investment mobilization, project portfolio management and asset data for decision making in asset management. In the coming months the activities for follow-up in this Water Operator Partnership (#WOP) will be further defined in a context of growing water demand and a lacking production capacity combined with vulnerable water resources, impacted by climate change. ⚡ Insights from CERRE's latest event on Energy Solidarity ⚡ Last week, CERRE hosted a breakfast with Research Fellow Catherine Banet, diving into her latest research on the evolving concept of energy solidarity. The discussion, moderated by Annika Brack, explored the importance of this concept in the context of European energy integration and crisis response. Banet's insights illuminated the multifaceted layers of energy solidarity, from crisis assistance to fostering integrated European energy systems. The discussion underscored the pivotal role of cross-border infrastructure and deeper market integration in advancing and enforcing energy solidarity. Looking ahead to the next EU Commission mandate, participants e.g., pointed at optimising trade, streamlining permitting and planning rules to meet collective needs. For a deeper dive ➡ Catherine Banet’s chapter on “Legal mechanisms to ensure energy solidarity in international and EU law” can be found and read in Cecilia Bailliet (ed.), Research Handbook on International Solidarity Law”, Edward Elgar, April 2024. #EnergySolidarity #REPowerEU #EuropeanEnergy
