🌞 California Utilities Threaten Rooftop Solar – And Governor Newsom is Complicit! 🌞 California’s push towards clean energy is facing a serious threat. Major utilities are trying to shut down rooftop solar to protect their monopolies, and unfortunately, one of my favorite guys Governor Gavin Newsom is complicit. Here’s what’s happening: 🔌 Utilities’ Monopoly: The big utility companies are lobbying hard to dismantle net metering policies that make rooftop solar affordable and attractive for homeowners. They are literally trying to end rooftop solar in CA. 💸 Campaign Contributions: Governor Newsom has received significant campaign contributions from these utilities, raising concerns about whose interests are being prioritized. Frankly, he has sold out to the utilities that make money from building huge scale solar projects out in no man's land that will take too many years to create the transmission lines to the actual users of the energy. ⚡ Impact on Solar Adoption: These efforts are stifling the growth of rooftop solar in California, a vital component of our renewable energy future and a critical tool in the fight against climate change. Why This Matters: Energy Independence: Rooftop solar empowers homeowners to generate their own electricity, reducing reliance on the grid and lowering energy bills. It's not just for the well off (most solar installs are with household income of up to $100k). Environmental Impact: Solar energy is a clean, renewable source that helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change.
