In honor of #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, the OKC Thunder proudly hosted Native American Student Day and Native American Heritage Night. Over 1,600 students from tribal nations across Oklahoma joined us for Student Day and heard from actors Chance Lee Rush (Hidatsa, Southern Arapaho), Cody Mayo (Choctaw), filmmaker Tava Sofsky (Cherokee), and costume designer Alyssa Blair Cawthon (Choctaw). During our Native American Heritage game night, fans enjoyed halftime entertainment from AJ Harvey, a season 25 contestant on The Voice, (Ponca, Pawnee, Osage, and Northern Hidatsa), a Stickball demonstration, First Americans Museum (FAM) display, and live art by Savannah Tallbear (Kaw) 🙌

'Remaining Native', a powerful and poignant documentary by Paige Bethman, is making its world premiere at SXSW 2025 in March! This documentary was filmed exclusively on SIGMA Cine lenses, and I am so happy it is approaching its world premiere. This coming-of-age story follows Ku Stevens, a 17-year-old Native American runner, as he pursues his dream of becoming a collegiate athlete. Along the way, Ku uncovers a deeply personal connection to his great-grandfather’s escape from an Indian boarding school, weaving together past, present, and future in a narrative that is both inspiring and unforgettable. 🚨 Reintroducing "March On" – A New Chapter in Our Story 🚨 Our world, as beautiful as it can be, still needs healing. While we all contribute, it often feels like it's never enough. One vital step toward progress is truth—understanding where we come from and what must change. This belief has always driven the March on Washington Film Festival, born from the creativity and passion of many minds. Now, we’re evolving and rebranding as March On to reflect our expanded mission: telling the untold stories of the Civil Rights Movement, honoring those who paved the way, and connecting history to the future. What sets March On apart is how we transcend literal marching by using all forms of visual and performing arts to tell these stories—through singing, dancing, drawing, filming, cooking, and writing. This storytelling legacy, passed down through generations of African-ancestored people, continues to be a catalyst for movements and progress. These are the Stories That Move, and we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire action. As we move forward as March On, our mission remains the same: to honor those who paved the way and to understand how our story connects to the future. Independent schools are increasingly adding marketing and communications (MARCOM) professionals to their teams as they navigate a more competitive educational landscape. With families weighing numerous educational options, schools must differentiate themselves through compelling storytelling, consistent branding, and strategic digital engagement. The best school marketers craft impactful narratives that highlight the school’s mission and unique offerings while connecting the messaging across diverse audiences, including prospective families, alumni, and donors. At the heart of a marketing director's value is storytelling. Independent schools are rich with untapped narratives—from student achievements and teacher innovations to alumni successes and distinctive programs. The most successful teams excel at discovering and transforming these stories into authentic, engaging content that inspires trust and connection. Linked is one of many such stories:

Given the increasing global interest in diverse narratives and the significant growth of the African film industry, a novel film festival focused on celebrating Black American, European, and African cinema and showcasing the vibrant growth of these film industries on a global platform, called ASWAD Film Festival will hold in Dubai in January 2025. Chukwuma Jason Njoku, an African technology and entertainment entrepreneur and Aswad Film Festival Chair, expressed his enthusiasm, saying: “Aswad is not just a film festival; it’s a celebration of our stories and our culture.
