I was listening to this video while tidying up the house yesterday. Before watching it, I had already seen quite a bit of content—even Instagram stories from friends—talking about this newcomer taxi service from Vietnam. It seems like they’re in a “burning money” phase because some of my friends managed to get nearly Rp 0 fares for a single trip. Well, it’s a promotional period, so it’s not surprising. What’s interesting is that Xanh SM’s CEO mentioned in one news article that he doesn’t consider Blue Bird as a competitor because Xanh SM’s focus isn’t just on being a taxi service but on operating an entirely electric-powered fleet. This aligns with what Mr. Indrawan Nurgoho pointed out—it seems like Xanh SM’s goal might be to take the lead in building a green energy vehicle environment. But wait, let’s not forget: green energy = electricity. Is it truly green? Electricity from PLN still comes from coal-fired power plants. Hmm… how long do you think it will take to transition from this sequence: ‘Fossil fuels --> electricity (coal-based) --> electricity (solar or other clean energy)?’
