One of the coolest things about working with a global team? Picking up little bits of each other’s cultures. Today, I learned the Finnish phrase "No Niin." It’s such a fun and versatile expression – it can mean anything from "Alright, let’s get started" to "Well, well" or even "I told you so." It’s amazing how one phrase can do so much heavy lifting. Who needs a dictionary when you have "No Niin"? It’s amazing how working with people from different cultures truly broadens our perspectives and enhances our creativity. You get to learn new ways of thinking, eating bizarre snacks from across the globe, and occasionally failing to pronounce things correctly (sorry, Finnish team!). Every day is a hilarious adventure that makes us more adaptable and creative. 🤗 It was wonderful to work with teams at the International School of Luxembourg again recently! 🙌💡 In this workshop, we explored ways to apply a research-based solution-focused conversation framework to 1:1 conversations and in team meetings. 🦺 We also discussed how to apply solution-focused practices in ways that cultivate trust and safety - ensuring our approach is empathetic and not forcing toxic positivity on others. 🌱⏩ It was great to see teams experimenting with new ways of tackling projects and issues together, and formulating plans for making a solution-focused conversation framework part of their team norms. 🙏 Many thanks to Erica Bastian and DJ Condon for championing strengths-based, solution-focused ways of collaborating at ISL, and to Laurianne Khodri and the ISL tech team for all your support in helping our session run smoothly! 👋 I’m looking forward to seeing everybody again in the new year!
