GOP is trying to legislate voter suppression beyond its current harsh levels. Now Rump does have to undermine the constitution by fraudulently finding 12k votes. Now they'll just disqualify the # needed ! The legislation would, among other things, revise the standard for challenging voter eligibility, which could increase the likelihood that election denial groups and conspiracy theorists will be able to successfully file mass, baseless voter eligibility complaints before the 2024 election. https://lnkd.in/e8BrBzkY

On October 3, 2024, LDF, the Texas Civil Rights Project, and the ACLU of Texas sent a letter urging Texas Attorney General Paxton to issue a statement condemning voter intimidation and violence and affirming his office’s commitment to ensuring that voters will be free to vote without fear this November. We have yet to receive a response. In light of the evidence of intimidation in recent elections, and reports indicating organized efforts to intimidate and harass Texas voters during this November’s election, it is critically important that the Attorney General’s office issues a statement to warn bad actors that voter intimidation will not be tolerated. There have been concerning reports of voter intimidation in Texas that raise red flags for the potential for further voter intimidation at the polls during the general election. These threats are not new: During the 2020 and 2022 elections, voters and election officials were targeted by disturbing incidents of voter intimidation. https://lnkd.in/eSrADUpF

Introduction The Republican Party’s legal efforts to tighten election security have faced significant setbacks. As the 2024 U.S. presidential election nears, courts have ruled against them in multiple key battleground states. These losses may boost voter turnout and speed up the certification of the election results. Republican Legal Setbacks Before Election Courtroom Setbacks In recent weeks, Republicans have suffered at least ten legal defeats in battleground states. These states are crucial for deciding the outcome of the election. The legal battles focus on election rule changes, voter purges, and overseas voting restrictions. #us #republican#voter #trending #linkedin For more information read here .👇🏻 https://lnkd.in/d-4tsBQk

SCOTUS is allowing VA voter purge. VA voters: if you've been wrongly purged from the rolls you can re-register at the polls under same-day registration & still cast a ballot. In fact, 23 states and DC have enacted same day voter registration. So if you're in one of these states and have been purged, no worries. Show up on election day with proper ID and proof of residency. North Carolina 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 allows this during 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐘 𝐕𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 periods. North Dakota 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞 voter registration. 🤔 The following States that allow same-day registration, including on Election Day: California Nevada Idaho Washington Utah Montana Wyoming Colorado New Mexico Minnesota Iowa Illinois Wisconsin Michigan Maine New Hampshire Vermont Connecticut Maryland Deleware Virginia Washington DC https://lnkd.in/gpxTkxny Go vote!!! #vote

No, @WIRED, "election deniers" did not get what they wanted in #2024Election. What we have wanted all along is election integrity - PERIOD. It was disinformation from Wired and their friends in #FakeNews when you disingenuously portrayed our investigations into the elections as "sour grapes" because Trump didn't win in #2020Election. That was never the truth. As a MI State Senator, I called for investigations into the #2016Election in Michigan where Trump was declared the winner. But you chose to ignore facts such as this so you could push your false "sour grapes" narrative. The integrity of our elections is in shambles. Just because @realDonaldTrump popularity made the last election too big to rig does not change the fact that we are in serious need of election reforms. The key to restoring confidence in the results of our election is TRANSPARENCY. Time for a professional audit of the election systems in ALL 50 STATES! Red, Blue, Purple, whatever. https://lnkd.in/gVc7_due

In the 2020 presidential election, Michigan's margin of votes was less than 155,000 (2.85%). As a critical swing state in 2024, it has recently been a hotbed for election misinformation, which Open Measures set out to investigate. Since right-wing misinformation spurred political violence in Michigan in the last election cycle, Open Measures researchers looked into the online narratives developing ahead of the 2024 election. Our researchers focused on Truth Social and Rumble and found a few recurring themes: -General election misinformation related to mail-in ballots and alleged voter fraud -Islamophobic claims that Muslims are defrauding the election process -Narratives targeting female government officials More pointedly, Michigan officials Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson were frequent subjects of misogynistic comments and threats. Voter ID Laws…What’s good about ‘em? What’s bad about ‘em? This much debated over and maligned topic is one that has people talking. I’m going to consider that it’s become more of an issue due to government officials creating this discussion, though. With all of that, why is it such a hot topic…especially around election time? There’s been much ado about how to secure elections since members of the government are claiming that our elections in the country are like the “Wild West.” What’s good about voter ID laws? -Protects voter integrity as it prevents illegal voting. -It reassures voters that ejection results are accurate. -Some polls show the majority are interested in showing ID prior to casting their ballots. What’s bad about voter ID laws? -According to the League of Women’s Voters, these laws are rooted in attempting to block the vote of students and people of color. -The rate of in-person voter impersonation is .00004%! -There are already mechanisms in place to ensure integrity (see previous post). -Not everyone has a government issued phot ID. As a matter of fact, almost 20% of those over 65, 25% of Black voters, 16% of Latinx voters, and 15% of low-income voters possess an “acceptable form of ID.” Whatever your point of view is on this issue, get the facts before you cast your ballot! #GetTheVoteOut #Democracy #VotingMatters https://lnkd.in/ecyEpuxD

There is an easy fix for voters who have forgotten to cancel voter registrations at prior locations, or think it happens automatically: Add a section on voter registration forms about previous addresses. Election boards can notify the prior locations. The notifications must include more than the full names as duplicate names are common, especially among certain ethnic groups. They need dates of birth, addresses, and social security numbers as well to prevent removing the wrong people. We also need a federal law to allow same-day re-registration for people whose names have been removed but can prove their name and address. In the last election, purges in North Carolina happened so close to the elections that there was not enough time under state law for voters to re-register, disenfranchising voters whose names matched someone else's. In manybcases, disenfranchised voters are not notified of their removal from the voter registration lists so they only find out when they show up to vote. https://lnkd.in/eRzp7652

Ranked choice voting is on the way out after a predictably bad run that damaged election confidence and integrity, including an election that had to be reversed after the winner took office. “This system has resulted in thousands of discarded ballots, widespread voting errors, delayed election results, longer lines at polling places, suspect recounts and, consequently, diminished voter confidence.” Dozens of jurisdictions that foolishly experimented with it have now rejected it. Alaska and Maine are the only two states to implement it at the state level and Alaska may repeal it by initiative this November after a disastrous experience (“11 percent of the ballots in Alaska in 2022 were ‘spoiled’ due to voter confusion under ranked-choice — more than three times the normal rate”). Six states have banned RCV and legislative efforts to do the same are underway in 14 more states.
The ranked-choice voting fad is finally ending
