As you enjoy today, we recommend that you consider taking care of your home while guests are over. Here are three of the most common plumbing issues that arise on Thanksgiving. 1. Garbage Disposal Issues Many people eat a large meal on Thanksgiving and uneaten food usually ends up in the garbage disposal. However, there are certain foods you should avoid putting down your garbage disposal because they can easily prevent clogs. This includes starchy foods (mashed potatoes), stringy foods (asparagus), and solid foods (eggshells). 2. Clogged Drains Shower drains and bathroom sinks are also prone to clogs if not taken care of. Things like soap, scum, hair, and other debris can create blockage in your plumbing lines that slow your drains down. The best way to fix a clogged drain is to call a plumber. Clogged Sewer Lines All of your guests at some point will need to use your bathroom. This additional use can cause your plumbing line to clog.
