𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐑 𝐄𝐔 2024? 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝! It was great catching up with so many of you at the conference—we had some fantastic conversations and took away plenty of insights! We also presented two research projects we’re really excited about, tackling important gaps and opportunities in healthcare: 1️⃣ 𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐄’𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 - 𝐄𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 ⚫ 41% of technologies assessed received early NHS recommendations, but many weren’t recommended due to evidence gaps. ⚫ Key areas needing more research include healthcare resource use, clinical outcomes, quality of life, and user experience. ⚫ Closing these gaps can help future MedTech innovations achieve recommendations and make a bigger impact. 2️⃣ 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧, 𝐐𝐨𝐋 & 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 – 𝐀 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰  🔴 Frequent bleeding events, iron deficiency anemia, and their impact on QoL are significant but there is still limited research. 🔴 Economic data is severely lacking—only 6% of studies covered costs like healthcare resource use and productivity loss. 🔴 More targeted research is needed to fully understand and address the challenges faced by GT patients and their families. Sjo! (That’s my South Africanism for expressing surprise—not like a surprise birthday party, but more like when someone pours you a glass of red wine, and it unexpectedly tastes incredible 🍷). This investor conference turned out much better than expected! Why low expectations, you ask? Well, there are so many “investor days” out there. But here’s what made this one stand out: ✅ Only EIC grant-holders could apply (success rate ~5-7%) – projects were already highly vetted, and from those, only a select group participated. 🎯 Single track – no parallel sessions, no drinks announced during pitches (focus level = 🔝). ⏳ One day – perfectly digestible. 👏 Jury of investors – Yes, they might have been obligated to attend due to collaborations with the EIC fund, but they were really engaged. Thank you, investors! 🙌 🔻The one negative: It wasn’t medtech-only (other topics can sometimes overshadow), but thankfully, this didn’t feel like the case here. 📝 Pro tip: Add these to your checklist for evaluating future conferences!
