Ashley recalls clearly at Xero. On conversions, small tests to push the needle is the source of truth. Here is an example experiment Ashley shared on SaaStock interview. The team reached out to prospects after 7 days who had not imported their retail data into the system. Instead of offering to do this mundane tasks for them for free - as on onboarding process. They offered to assist for $100. Ashley taught that offering to help for free was gong to win, but prospects paying $100 for the tasked performed way better. The lesson: You can double your conversions by running simple tests to those on the fence. It may turn out, their slow speed to onbaord is not payment objection, but time constraints. Time in one form or another. p.s: In tomorrow's newsletter, am sharing more on Ashely's interview with Alex from Saastock. And more... Check comments and sign up for free.

Very often, especially with new clients like Frank, I hear, "Unpaid invoices are not a problem. I have enough cash, and I prefer to focus on new orders." When I asked for the reason, Frank said something like, "My cash flow is fine, and if necessary, I can just get another order to cover the gap." When I persisted and asked again why, he explained that he is much more efficient in generating new business than in collecting money. When I asked again why, he told me that he was uncomfortable having such conversations. Further probing revealed that he feared the customer might become unreasonable and might never place an order again. He also mentioned that he didn't want to be reminded of this topic because he was genuinely worried. Wow - Frank was worried! It became clear that Frank was worried, and it was up to me to reassure him. We discussed how nobody should worry about not getting paid. Most customers are reasonable and pay their bills, and those who don't he should exclude from doing business with. Finally, I suggested a simple solution for getting paid without having to speak to the debtor. If you are honest with yourself, how do you feel about not getting paid, and do you want to do something about it? Try GetPaid on Xero. It's easy and free. Don't worry, be happy! https://buff.ly/3WBaucZ Best Oliver PS: Frank is, of course, not his real name, but the story is real.

I enjoy it when the accounting community thinks they are in the middle of a serial drama plot! May's episode whipped up by Xero's announcement of their subscription plan changes. If you are an accountant that doesn't see Xero's value then you probably aren't the right fit for it and that's absolutely fine, there will be something more suitable for you out there. Xero can't be everything to everyone and they probably don't want to be. For me personally, whilst I don't believe there is one solution that fits all, I do find that my clients investing in Xero saves them time, money and headaches in the long run. If I put a pound of the cost to each minute they save I quickly run out of pounds and the minutes keep building. And that's without thinking of the value the cost adds to the business in terms of giving the ability to strengthen cash flow, enhance profit and enable better decision making. £30-£50 is insignificant to what the return on investment can be IF you use the software to its full potential. I consider Cottons Group relationship with Xero to be a partnership and I'm glad to see our partner moving forward and having positive strategy. Who wants a partner that sits still and doesn't take opportunities?! It's certainly not what we would advise a client to do. Looking forward to June's scandal which hopefully comes from Xerocon where I'm sure we are going to hear about what else the product is about to bring to the table for everyone's cost v benefit analysis 😂 #allpublicityisgoodpublicity #ValueOverPrice #softwareselection
