Happy International Women's Day. While this day is now filled with controversy over what it means, and the lack of real sustainable progress in uplifting the lives and opportunities for women around the world, I wanted to add an important point to remember. This day is not just to celebrate the achievements of the great trailblazers who have helped is achive what we have. Yes we should celebrate their bravery and strength, because without it, it would be harder for many today. This day is also to remind every woman out there that you too have an amazing story. Often untold, but no less important. We all have personal struggles that we have overcome and others we are still battling... in our own way. International Womans's Day is for all women, and should be celebrated with reflection and pride for who you have become and who you work hard everyday to strive to become. It is the representation of those who came before us that provide the beliefs that become entrenched for us and future generations to achieve what was/is impossible, because... Why not me?!? So stand tall, sit upright and look yourself and any other woman you meet and smile. Remembering that we are all building and influencing the next set of leaders just by living the lives we strive to live. Finding the right words to honour International Women's Day is always a journey of introspection for me. While I'm eager to celebrate, I'm also conflicted by the notion of confining appreciation for women to just one day a year. Shouldn't every day be a celebration of their contributions, struggles, and triumphs? 🤔 Reflecting on the countless events and discussions surrounding this day, I find myself between inspiration and despair. The empowering stories and calls to action uplift me, yet the stark realities of gender disparities, burnout, and societal judgement weigh heavily on my heart. 💔 So today I want to share a recipe with you on how you can support women to reach their full potential. I promise you, you will be able to start right after you finish reading this LinkedIn post. 💡 1. Start with asking your partner/kid/parent/best friend about their ambition. What do they really want to do? What is their dream? 2. Take their answer seriously. 3. Prioritise their needs above your own. For example, cook dinner so that your partner could go to a networking event, put down your phone and go to the gym with your kid, say no to afterwork and teach your parents how to use Zoom. 4. Repeat on a weekly basis. If more people do that, we will have a more diverse workforce and leadership, we will have more female founders and investors, we will also have happier people around us. 🗣 How do you support the ambitions of people around you? - share in the comments 🗣

In celebration of International Women's Day, I'd like to champion supporting and empowering women, across all walks of life. 👇 This day, this week, and every week, let's honor women everywhere, for their courage, strength, motivation, and resilience. To take time to ask ourselves, how can we create more supportive, inclusive, and equitable circumstances for women within social structures, within education, economically, politically, and psychologically? Let's honor leading with purpose, compassion, and creativity. Let's honor rising above hardship, biases, and exclusion, and speaking up to break barriers and challenge norms. As many women have experienced before me, I too have been treated differently because of my gender and ethnicity. Faced inappropriate, unwanted, and disrespectful attention, and biased beliefs. These experiences taught me how to move out of confusion and self doubt into indelible self value & belief, to stand and speak with grace and strength, and to challenge any system lacking inclusivity and equity. I am very grateful to all the women and supportive individuals who paved the way before me, my peers who walk with me, and future generations who will continue to positively push boundaries. To every woman forging her own path: your strength inspires, your leadership transforms, your vulnerability heals, and your nurturing resilience builds a brighter future for us all.
