Studying Natural Resources Management brings me immense joy and satisfaction. The field is incredibly dynamic and offers a unique blend of science, policy, and hands-on management, which keeps me constantly engaged and motivated. Every day, I learn something new about the intricate balance between human needs and environmental sustainability. One of the most fulfilling aspects of this field is the opportunity to make a tangible difference. Knowing that my work can contribute to the conservation of ecosystems, the sustainable use of resources, and the overall health of our planet is incredibly rewarding. It feels empowering to be part of a community that is dedicated to finding solutions to some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. Moreover, the interdisciplinary nature of Natural Resources Management means that I get to collaborate with experts from various fields, including biology, ecology, economics, and social sciences. This collaboration not only broadens my knowledge but also enhances my problem-solving skills, as I learn to approach issues from multiple perspectives. The practical experiences, such as fieldwork and internships, are another highlight. These opportunities allow me to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, which is both exciting and educational. Whether it’s conducting wildlife surveys, managing forest resources, or working on water conservation projects, each experience adds a new layer of understanding and appreciation for the natural world. In summary, studying Natural Resources Management is not just an academic pursuit for me; it’s a source of happiness and fulfillment. It aligns with my values and aspirations, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a sustainable future. # Natural Resources Management # KNUST # Environmental Conservationist.

Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to share a land cover map I created as part of my ongoing practice during my internship at ARDA. This project allowed me to apply my GIS skills while learning the nuances of mapping land use types. As a GIS intern in the field of agricultural and rural development, the creation of a land cover map serves multiple purposes that align with both personal and professional objectives. 1. Understanding Land Cover Mapping Land cover mapping refers to the process of identifying and categorizing the various physical materials covering the earth's surface. In agricultural and rural development, this mapping is crucial for several reasons: -Resource Management: Accurate land cover maps provide essential data for managing natural resources effectively. Understanding the distribution of different land types helps in planning agricultural activities, resource allocation, and conservation efforts. -Environmental Monitoring: Land cover maps are vital for monitoring environmental changes, such as deforestation, urbanization, and agricultural expansion. By tracking these changes, stakeholders can make informed decisions to mitigate negative impacts on ecosystems. -Policy Development: Policymakers rely on land cover data to formulate strategies that promote sustainable development. A comprehensive map can aid in identifying areas that require intervention or protection, ensuring that agricultural practices are sustainable and aligned with environmental goals 2.Personal Motives for Creating a Land Cover Map My motivation for creating a land cover map stems from a deep-seated interest in sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship. As an intern, I aim to contribute meaningfully to projects that enhance agricultural productivity while preserving natural resources. Specifically, my motives include: -Passion for Agriculture: By creating a land cover map, I hope to provide valuable insights that can help farmers optimize their land use, leading to improved crop yields and economic stability. Commitment to Sustainability: I believe that sustainable practices are essential for the long-term health of our environment. A land cover map can serve as a tool for promoting sustainable land management practices, ensuring that agricultural development does not come at the expense of ecological integrity. As I’m still learning, I would greatly appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or insights from my experienced colleagues. Your guidance would be invaluable as I continue to develop my skills. #LULC #ESRI #SENTINEL #REMOTE SENSING #SUSTAINABILITY #PRECISION AGRICULTURE

More than 21 Sustainable Landcare Training participants have been hired to inspect rain gardens and other green infrastructure in Minneapolis in the past two years. 👷 Here’s some of the ways we provide employment-related support following the training: 🌱 With support from the City of Minneapolis, we hire trainees to inspect green infrastructure practices like rain gardens, checking for erosion, looking at plant health, identifying invasive plants and noting maintenance needs. 💼 We created a career resource web page to help trainees navigate the emerging green jobs market. And, this summer, we hosted a networking event this summer where Blue Thumb Partners met with trainees. 🤝 We also started a mentorship program to support trainees in next steps. This year, seven trainees were paired with mentors in the environmental field, including past SLC participants and people with many years of experience in the environmental field. 🌾 Just this fall, six recent SLC trainees joined our landcare crew to clean up and plant rain gardens in medians and boulevards at Minnehaha and Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis. Economic justice is at the heart of our Sustainable Landcare Training. We strive to connect participants to job opportunities and pay participants equitably. All of this takes financial support. Early giving for Give to the Max Day is open now: https://lnkd.in/gHFukGzB #SustainableLandcare #SustainableLandscaping #NatureBasedSolutions #GreenJobs #EnvironmentalJustice #GTMD24 #GiveForGood
