CHARLES SYMINGTON IS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF PRIMUM FAMILIAE VINI Each year, Primum Familiae Vini (PFV) – an association of twelve prestigious families from the world of wine – appoints one of its members as President to oversee the association for the year and act as its representative at various events around the world. This year, Charles Symington of Symington Family Estates in Portugal succeeds Véronique Drouhin of Maison Joseph Drouhin in France as PFV President for the period July 2024 to June 2025. Charles Symington: "I am extremely honored to be taking over from my predecessors at Primum Familiae Vini and to support our twelve families who share the same values: the culture of excellence, love and respect for the earth and the terroir, and the powerful desire to remain family-run, independent businesses and transmit the heritage of our ancestors to the next generation. These are particularly exciting times at PFV. The last 12 months have been fruitful under Véronique Drouhin's leadership, with major advances on climate change issues within the technical committee. 🌍🍷 JRE and Vaider Group (SFS Paraćin) Unveil New Sustainable Initiative for Wine Industry! We’re thrilled to announce that Vaider Group in collaboration with JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs, is launching a groundbreaking sustainable wine bottle, set to transform the wine industry and reduce its environmental impact. Building on our successful 2023 partnership, this new wine bottle features a lightweigt design, and is made with hybrid technology combined with Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) glass. The bottle will debut on November 22, 2024, at Wine Vision by Open Balkan Fair, the largest wine fair in the Balkans. Production begins during 🌍 »Sustainable Week« in our affiliate Hrastnik1860, where we’ll also launch the EU’s first end-fired hybrid regenerative glass furnace—a leap forward in eco-friendly manufacturing. ♻️ Why This Matters Our initiative addresses one of the key challenges in the wine industry: the carbon footprint of glass packaging. By creating lighter and more eco-friendly wine bottles without sacrificing quality, we’re paving the way toward a more sustainable wine culture. 🚀 A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future At the JRE International Congress earlier this year, JRE and Vaider Group joined hands with key industry players to sign a manifesto titled, “A Toast to a Sustainable Tomorrow,” committing to the future of sustainable wine practices.
