A big thank you to the Global Shrimp Forum for the opportunity to share some of my thoughts on this highly successful international event. It was inspiring to witness key players from the global #shrimpindustry come together, marking a significant milestone with their commitment to a unified marketing effort aimed at promoting shrimp consumption through the #happyprotein initiative. Shrimp are an incredibly healthy source of protein, and the industry is committed to increasing production while continuously enhancing sustainability practices. However, even today, many people don’t yet consider shrimp as a common choice when shopping. Let's raise awareness and promote the benefits of this nutritious, sustainable option. Another forward-thinking step, driven by Willem van der Pijl's vision, was the invitation of leaders from the emerging #insectindustry, (Gaetan Crielaard and Piotr Postepski) Their shared contributions, challenges, and innovative proposals highlighted the vital role insects can play in advancing responsible and sustainable shrimp farming. By reducing the carbon footprint of feed proteins and mitigating the negative impacts of certain wild-caught fisheries and deforestation linked to plant-based proteins, they are paving the way for a more eco-friendly aquaculture future.

Fotis Chatzipapadopoulos, CEO at Smart Agro Hub, was invited by Η ΝΑΥΤΕΜΠΟΡΙΚΗ | NAFTEMPORIKI to discuss sustainable practices and sustainability in agriculture. As a competence center in agriculture, we work towards making these innovative approaches common practice among Greek agronomists and farmers. With this perspective, we aim to enhance economic outcomes and reduce the environmental footprint of crops. Fotis Chatzipapadopoulos highlighted the importance of adopting smart agricultural practices and technology, which lead to economic sustainability. More specifically, Smart Agro Hub aims to help farmers achieve better results with fewer resources by reducing production costs and managing resources efficiently.
