I'm curious... What is the role of 'associations' in your current job and industry? In my experience, associations have been the thread that holds industry professionals together - serving up data/resources, addressing collective challenges, and building connections between individuals. As someone who worked in Travel, I know that Airline, Hospitality, Cruise, Outdoor, Destination associations are powerful and important to the success of the industry overall. What has been YOUR experience with associations? How are they still building connections from professionals? And yes, tag anyone with whom I should talk about this further! Also: I kindof enjoy playing the "guess what this association acronym stands for" game... 👇 And I bet the ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership has something to say about this! 😆 #curiousminds #associations #industry

Another opportunity to share; Cancun MUN is the most prestigious Model United Conference in Southeast Mexico. A Model United Nations conference is one in which students from all over the world take the role of an international delegate of any given country. These delegations join various committees in order to debate current or recent worldwide issues, with the purpose of finding viable solutions, much like how the real United Nations committees operate. The objective of the conference is to teach high school students how modern international politics and global policies are created and enforced, which is in essence, how the world operates today. The conference teaches leadership, tolerance, and teamwork skills which are vital for the healthy development of one's self and one's relationship with the world. However, if you interested to partake this event please click this link to apply for: https://lnkd.in/dwBqH5qs. #CANCUN #MUN #UNMODEL #2024 #Networking #Knowledgesharing #Leadership# #Teamwork. #Opportunity. 👍 👏

“Ambition is refusing to quit on ourselves! Leadership is refusing to quit on others” - Simon Sinek Powerful sentences with so much depth. As the Olympics are approaching its end, it’s amazing on how sports can teach us so much, the ambition to be better everyday, to find ways to evolve everyday and the power and importance to drive energy, strategy, ambition on the ones around you. Companies are no different than Team Sports: everyone matters and while finding ways on becoming better everyday, the group benefits from a contagious smile, a driving energy, a strong will of becoming successful TOGETHER. It is sad to conclude that Portugal is one of the European countries with the lower % of people practicing sports - 22% vs 38%. There’s absolutely room for doing so much more - and it all starts on you - embrace sports, learn something new today, tomorrow, have fun with sports… and lead the kids around you following your steps..

Is being “too nice” a Leadership flaw? Despite achieving remarkable results and leading England team to Euro Finals- Gareth Southgate, the manager of England’s football team has been criticised for his game strategy and for his “too nice” demenor. Have you seen how he treated his players on pitch? His approach has fostered respect, strong team spirit and unity. So why do we still hold onto the notion that being “too nice” is detrimental to success? In today’s corporate world, we often encounter biases concerning personality expectations, especially in leadership roles. Even, myself as an introvert seller , often being penalised for not being “ruthless”. But is it reallly a limitation? 🤔 It’s time for a shift in perspective. Let’s celebrate diverse leadership style and promote inclusivity in the workplace. By embracing kindness and empathy, we can create a supportive and productive environment that appeals to clients and encourages growth. Now, let’s bring the trophy 🏆 ⚽️ home 🙏🏽 #leadership #diversityandinclusion #employeeexperience #winning #garethsouthgate #euro2024 Image source : @bbcsports

🏆 Leadership Lessons from the Pitch: Gareth Southgate's Journey to the Euro 2024 Final As England prepares for the Euro 2024 final, I've been thinking about Gareth Southgate's journey. Whilst he still has his doubters, for me, his story is a masterclass in resilience, self-belief, and staying true to your vision, even when faced with overwhelming criticism. Here are my key takeaways: 🤨 Trust your process: Despite intense public scrutiny, Southgate remained committed to his methods and tactical approach. ⚽ Embrace your past: Instead of letting his 1996 penalty miss define him, Southgate used it as motivation to lead England as Manager. 🎉 Build a strong team culture: Southgate's focus on unity and mental strength has transformed the national team's dynamics. 💱 Adapt, but don't abandon your principles: While making necessary adjustments, Southgate never wavered from his core beliefs. 🙏 Lead with authenticity: His genuine approach has earned respect from players and fans alike. It's not been pretty and at times it's been terrifying to watch, but Gareth's journey reminds me that true leadership isn't about pleasing everyone – it's about having the courage to stand by your convictions and inspire others to believe in a shared vision. Whether in sports, business, or life, his resilience offers valuable lessons for us all. Sometimes, the path to success means weathering the storm of doubt and criticism. Come on England! 🏆 What leadership lessons have you learned from unlikely sources? Share your thoughts below! #Leadership #Resilience #Euro2024 #ItsComingHome

1,000,000 Project One Million Steps for Peace My youngest son, Otto, has come to a crossroads in his life and I think the same may be true for me. This fact seemed a good prompt to take some time for silence and reflection. New perspectives cannot be forced to the surface; we have to be in attendance and be attentive. Where can we find time and space for such a process? On September 13, we will be setting off on a pilgrimage. We have bought one-way tickets to the foothills of the French Pyrenees from where we will commence our 800 kilometre (around 1,000,000 steps) walk to Santiago de Compostela — ’el Camino de Santiago,’ ‘the Camino,’ or ‘The Way.’ A walk to: ° ask for a more peaceful world ° give thanks for all that we have ° enjoy nature and each other’s company ° make new friends ° learn from each other and from The Way ° encounter the unexpected ° let go Life is not just about Talking Leadership, it’s also about Walking Leadership. I hope that this undertaking will let me come back as a better father, husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague, as well as a better sparring partner for our clients. SPONSORSHIP Want to sponsor? THE WAY OVER is sponsoring this undertaking as a leadership development project. However, if your company is interested in sponsoring this project, please get in touch. #walkingleadership #talkingleadership #elcamino #peace #tonemillionsteps #peace #listening #theunexpected #thewayover

Yesterday I participated in a great event ‘Quand le sport inspire le leadership’ which symbolically happened in Lausanne, the Olympic capital. Interesting alpine documentary with starring Ivan Reusse was followed by a panel discussion where business leaders shared their thoughts on the theme. From my side, I want to add organizational dimension to the topic. In sports, the result is never solely dependant on your own performance - even if you’re 1st in the rankings, there are always odds that someone else will take the trophy. That’s why elite athletes do not overfocus on target, rather than on process, i.e. on the routine which they need to do everyday to get 1% better (btw, isn’t it part of the AthleteThinking, Henri Vidalinc ?). In business, this concept is supported by the Objective and Key Results concept (OKR) - having set the ambitious Objective (which is sometimes percieved as non-achievable), companies define measurable Key Results which indicate whether you’re on the right path or not, and make sure there are the right processes to lead to those results. P.S. For me participation in the event was a personal win, as it was my first event in French language
