National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – a very important day in Canadian history that honours the resilience of First Nations, Inuit and Métis survivors and the children who never returned home from residential schools, as well as their families and communities. We at On Side Restoration recognize the importance of listening, learning and ensuring the legacy of residential schools is never forgotten. We support the public commemoration of the tragic shared history and ongoing impacts of residential schools and believe this day presents a critical opportunity to educate ourselves and ensure the truth and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of Canada’s reconciliation process. #OrangeShirtDay #EveryChildMatters #TruthandReconciliation

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. Recognizing this day is one way to acknowledge the genocide enacted through residential schools and to honour the children who never returned home, as well as the residential school survivors, their families, and communities. This is a day for reflecting on the past and committing to the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and engaging in dialogue, education, and meaningful change. Our staff will be listening and learning together as one small action toward reconciliation. Through even the smallest of steps like this, we hope to better understand the impacts of colonization, support reconciliation and foster a more inclusive, equitable Canada. #NDTR #EveryChildMatters #TruthAndReconciliation
