There's a huge problem with how The West approaches supporting developing economies. Charity. In Tanzania, I met dozens of well-meaning volunteers. They built schools and homes while spending money into the local economy. But how are the locals supposed to compete with free? How long would *you* last competing with competing with free? Volunteer construction drops the floor for labor to zero. Donating shoes puts local businesses at an insurmountable disadvantage. Dollar for dollar, money is more efficiently placed in the hands of a (succeeding) business. It puts money into the hands of locals like a water-wheel generator. Spinning, generating energy, then returning water to the river. Charitable giving creates dependency; businesses create self-dependency and resiliency.

Transforming Lives in Kalangalo: Providing Access to Clean Water At Kalama your friend community based organization in Kalangalo, Uganda, we are committed to tackling the critical water crisis in the region. With 900 residents facing a severe water shortage, the nearest water source is nearly 2 miles away in the forest. This scarcity not only poses risks like kidnapping and drowning for children but also affects their education, as they often miss school to fetch water. Moreover, the lack of water hampers agricultural activities, leading to food insecurity due to drought conditions. To address this, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign to build a well within the community. This well will not only provide a reliable water source but also transform lives, ensuring a brighter future for Kalangalo. Your donation, regardless of size, can make a significant impact.
