Curious about Chicago’s solar potential? The Chicago Solar Map, developed by National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Illinois Solar for All Program Administrator Elevate with support from The Chicago Community Trust, provides reliable estimates of the solar energy potential for all buildings and land parcels within the City of Chicago and a limited area of suburban Cook County. Users can browse neighborhoods, filter by several criteria, and search for individual properties to determine solar energy potential. Additionally, the Chicago Solar Map allows users to view boundaries of Illinois Solar for All (ILSFA) Income-Eligible Communities and Environmental Justice Communities. Properties in these areas may qualify for solar incentives through the ILSFA program. https://lnkd.in/gr46ByM4 #Chicago #CookCounty #SolarPower #EnergyEquity #ILSFA #EJC #Sustainability #Renewables

Small scale solar news! The Carver Solar Project by Syncarpha Capital in Massachusetts is officially up and running. With 7.1 MW of solar energy and a 4 MW battery storage system, it's powering local communities, including Tufts University and Milton Academy, all thanks to the Massachusetts SMART program. Located on a 28-acre cranberry bog (how cool is that? I can see the Ocean Spray guys standing in the lake of cranberries in the commercial), this is the perfect example of how we can power the future while preserving our agricultural landscapes. In its first year, it will generate 9,500 MWh and provide discounted solar credits to 350 low-income residents. The battery storage isn’t just a bonus—it’s key to stabilizing the grid and storing solar energy to offset peak demand. This project is an interesting solution for the cranberry bogs and another feather in the cap for clean energy. #SolarPower #Innovation #DistributedGeneration #Sustainability #CleanEnergy

Utah's first floating solar project is now complete! They installed a 587.5-kW floating solar array on the holding pond at the Signal Hill Water Treatment Plant. This innovative project will offset 92% of the plant's grid energy consumption and is expected to reduce energy costs by 80%. Supported by a $400,000 grant from Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky Award program, this solar installation makes efficient use of water surfaces, maximizing energy production without impacting land resources. Completed ahead of schedule, the array will be fully operational by October 23, 2024. As Chris Braun, Mountain Regional’s CTO, stated: “This innovative floating solar installation makes use of an untapped resource. It’s another piece of the puzzle in our journey toward a Net-Zero energy goal." This project demonstrates the potential of renewable energy to drive sustainable development in new and exciting ways. #FloatingSolar #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #Innovation #NetZeroGoals #GreenEnergy
