Four Common Genital Skin Conditions‼️
At Women’s Haven®, we believe in educating women and girls about vaginal health and wellbeing.
#Repost Dr. Kerry-Anne Perkins:
“Lumps and bumps can appear down there and resemble quite a few different skin conditions.
There are many skin conditions, but these are the most common ones I see as an OBGYN:
1. Genital Pimples: Often called razor bumps if we shave, or ingrown hairs if we wax. They are usually harmless and can pop up due to clogged pores or irritation.
2. Genital Warts: Caused by HPV, these are painless bumps that can be removed from the skin.
3. Genital Herpes: A common STI that leads to painful sores and ulcers, known as outbreaks. When they appear around the mouth, they’re referred to as cold sores.
4. Vaginal Lichen Sclerosus: A chronic skin condition that may cause discomfort like itching, though it often doesn’t present other symptoms. While symptoms can be treated, there is no cure, and there is a small risk of cancer.
Remember, your health matters! If you notice any unusual symptoms or have concerns, reach out to your healthcare provider. Don’t suffer in silence—let’s prioritize our well-being together!” 💜

Endometriosis: Shedding Light on a Silent Struggle
Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it, often leading to:
• Chronic pelvic pain
• Heavy or irregular periods
• Pain during intercourse or bowel movements
• Infertility
This condition commonly affects the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and pelvic lining. Despite impacting millions of women worldwide, endometriosis remains widely underdiagnosed and misunderstood.
At Women’s Haven®, we are dedicated to empowering women with the knowledge they need to understand their bodies and take charge of their health. By spreading awareness about conditions like endometriosis, we strive to break the silence and encourage informed conversations about women’s wellness.

🌟 FemTech Tackles PCOS: Empowering Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome 🌟
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects 1 in 10 women of reproductive age, causing symptoms like irregular periods, weight gain, and infertility. Despite its prevalence, PCOS is often misunderstood and under-diagnosed, leaving many women feeling frustrated and unsupported. This is where FemTech is creating meaningful change. 🩺🌸
One game-changer is Oova, a company combining science and technology to help women with PCOS better understand their hormone levels. Their at-home urine test provides real-time insights into key hormones like LH and progesterone, empowering women to make informed decisions about their health and fertility. 🧬📱
💡 Why PCOS-focused FemTech is Vital:
Custom care: Traditional PCOS treatments are often one-size-fits-all. Tools like Oova enable personalised approaches to symptom management and fertility tracking.
Bridging gaps: FemTech bridges the gap between healthcare providers and patients, offering continuous monitoring without frequent clinic visits. 🏠💡
Raising awareness: By addressing PCOS openly, companies are reducing stigma and fostering a better understanding of the condition.
FemTech innovations are giving women with PCOS the tools to take control of their health journeys—and that’s worth celebrating! 🙌

Great to see NMF Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) member, Jennifer Garrison, PhD, an asst prof at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, and cofounder & exec dir of ProductiveHealth.org (formerly GCRLE) , featured in this recent this Women's Health magazine "#Ovaries Age Faster Than The Rest Of The Body"! The latest in longevity research is woefully underfunded yet incredibly promising for human health. Despite the fact that half of the population has ovaries, this organ is still a bit of an enigma in the scientific and medical world. And this has broad-sweeping implications for female health and longevity... https://lnkd.in/e3yXcSyuMayo Clinic#perimenopause#menopause#womenshealth
Florence Pugh's recent discussion about her polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis diagnoses sheds light on a significant issue in women's healthcare: the normalization of symptoms that can lead to delayed diagnoses. Pugh shared that she had long considered symptoms like acne, weight fluctuations, and irregular periods as merely "part of being a woman," which postponed her seeking medical advice.
This underscores a pervasive challenge where individuals dismiss symptoms, resulting in delayed medical consultations and diagnoses. Such delays can have significant implications, especially for conditions like PCOS and endometriosis, which can affect fertility and overall health.
Pugh's experience serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of proactive health monitoring and education. It emphasizes the need for comprehensive healthcare discussions that empower individuals to recognize and address potential health issues early.
By fostering greater awareness and encouraging open conversations about health, we can work towards bridging the healthcare gap and ensuring timely diagnoses for all.
