At 4:30am this morning, we brought our son to the airport, the start of his trip back to Australia. This visit was my first time to see him in 20 months, and there were lots of tears and hugs on arrival and departure! My son travelled light- just a small backpack for his 2 weeks. Even though he had some of his clothes at home, he had to be careful when choosing what to pack. What was essential. It’s a lesson many of us can use when preparing to speak. Just as packing for a journey forces us to decide what truly matters, creating a great talk means leaving out what doesn’t. It’s always a bit tough to decide what stays behind — in travel or in a talk — but it’s what helps us move forward. By focusing on just the core points, you’ll ensure each part of your message lands with impact — no “extra baggage” weighing it down. So, next time you’re working on a talk, ask: what are the essentials? Trim down to what truly serves your audience, and you’ll speak with clarity and ease. Need help finding the essentials in your message? Get in touch!

If you’re a people pleaser, You need to solo travel. I took my first official solo trip in 2017 and my life was forever changed. I used to be someone who always made sure everyone else was happy, Even at the expense of myself. But when I solo traveled without any outside influence, It forced me to figure out: → What I enjoyed doing → Where I liked to eat → What I wanted to learn → How I wanted to spend my time → What I was feeling and thinking → How to be comfortable being by myself → How to interact with strangers When you step away from your everyday routine and community to solo travel, You recognize the influence they've had over you and begin to determine where you stand. You start to develop a stronger relationship with yourself that builds self worth to a new level. Your relationship with yourself is the longest relationship you will ever have in your life. And remember, there’s a huge difference between aloneness and loneliness. So, where will you go on your first solo trip? P.s. You can start small by taking yourself on a coffee/tea date!

You‘ve got your coffee in one hand, mouse in the other, and your determination hat on. Your mission? Plan the ultimate getaway. But as you tumble down the Google rabbit hole, you realize you‘re in for a wild ride. Who knew researching best beaches could lead to a crash course in Caribbean culture? Let‘s make this journey a little less chaotic, shall we? If you’re planning a galavant to St. Lucia in the near future, here’s how I can help: → Giving your clarity on where to go, and when, and how much time to spend at each place. → Laying out our itinerary and getting everything booked so you don’t have to go down the rabbit hole. → Tailored suggestions and personalization → Hands on support along the way and tailored suggestions You keep sipping the coffee, but slide that to do list right on over here so I can get that trip planned for you. Send me a message.

After attending Phil Jones’ Exactly What to Say program a couple of weeks ago, I started the ‘Stop It’ Challenge to elevate the quality of my conversations. Last week, while on a cruise with friends, so many people asked, ‘Is this your first cruise with Crystal?’ I get it—it’s a simple, easy question. But lazy questions lead to lazy conversations, and in lazy conversations, we miss the chance to truly connect. Last night, I shared with Ron, ‘What if we saw every interaction as an intentional part of our journey? If we believed that, we’d pay more attention, ask better questions, and really care about the response.’ Instead of asking, ‘Is this your first cruise with Crystal?’ I asked, ‘What’s been your most memorable travel experience?’ The response? People got to relive beautiful memories, and we added new places to our travel bucket list. One deeper question led to much deeper connections. People may not always remember your name, but they will remember your face and how you made them feel. As you enter the week, take a moment to write down some thoughtful questions you can use to engage with others. Be the person who leaves others feeling seen, heard, and valued. Commit to walking away from every conversation having learned something new about the person you’re speaking with. For example, ‘What’s the fire in your belly right now?’ feels a lot more meaningful than ‘How are things going?’ Share your question swap with me (and others committed to this process) below 👇
