I interviewed 5 MD’s last week from top global companies about their careers; here’s what they told me: 1️⃣ You’re not promoted because you’re good. You’re promoted because other people think you’re good. Always work in places where good performance is recognised and you’re rewarded for it. 2️⃣ Never forget just how important luck is in contributing to success. Many MD’s attribute a lot of their success just by being at the right place + right time. 3️⃣ Prioritise life-long learning at all costs. Learning shouldn’t stop at university and you can’t afford to not learn all the time. The world moves and changes way too quickly. 4️⃣ Find your niche and become the absolute best at what you do. In today’s world, world class people are paid for excelling at one or two very specific things. Don’t spread yourself too thin. 5️⃣ Those that make it to the top are the ones who are amazing at what they do + build relationships with people phenomenally well. You must have both of these traits to ever truly become a leader in your field. If you would like another similar post with 5 other learnings, comment below and I’ll make a part 2 🙏

This semester, King’s College Computer & Information Systems (CIS) students had the invaluable opportunity to shadow IT professionals across various companies and organizations, giving them deeper insight into their potential career paths and expanding their understanding of career options. Job shadowing allows students to engage with professionals, observing their daily activities and gaining valuable insight into the skills, routines, and environments in their chosen fields. This experience helps students learn about a particular company or business, observe the skills needed for specific roles, understand the college-to-career connection, and use this knowledge to inform their goal-setting and educational planning. Professor Shirley Yanovich, who organized this program, stresses the importance of building professional relationships and gaining real-world insights. "I absolutely love seeing the excitement from my students,” Yanovich shared. It is never too early to prepare them for their career paths. Through job shadowing, they also focus on both hard and soft skills, giving them a well-rounded perspective on what it takes to succeed in their future careers. #KingsCollege #CISStudents #JobShadowExperience #Partnership #Innovation #Thankful #BusinessAcknowledgment #Pulverman #ProcterAndGamble #IABSolutionsLLC #BiBERK #McCarthyTireServices #LuzerneCounty/GISMappingDepartment #TobyhannaArmyDepot #LearningA-Z #GoldenTechnologies #MetzCulinaryManagement #ActionLift #Vanguard #GUARD #USPS #DynamicCampus #NBCNewsChannel

I MADE IT ONCE AGAIN!!! Alhamdulillah, after a week of anticipation, I finally got around to checking my semester 4 results. Couldn't access them earlier due to a technical glitch, but the wait was well worth it! To my surprise, I scored a GPA of 3.93, surpassing my previous 3.90 GPA. Feeling incredibly grateful and blessed right now. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my wonderful family for their unwavering support and encouragement. My friends have been absolute rocks throughout this journey, sticking by me through thick and thin. And of course, heartfelt thanks to my lecturers for their invaluable guidance and expertise. One highlight that truly caught me off guard was receiving an A+ for the subject IBM554 International Trade Framework, especially since it involved a final exam. Reflecting on this achievement, I've come to realize the importance of consistency and staying organized. Maintaining a steady study routine and reaching out for help when needed were crucial. Setting achievable goals and celebrating each milestone along the way kept me motivated. Another important lesson I've learned is the value of resilience and perseverance. There were times when I faced setbacks and moments of self-doubt, but by staying resilient and maintaining a positive mindset, I was able to overcome obstacles and stay on track towards my goals. It's essential to embrace failures as learning opportunities and to never lose sight of the bigger picture. As this semester marks my last one before embarking on an internship, I'm filled with excitement and anticipation for the opportunities ahead. I hope to secure a position in a company that can utilize my knowledge and skills effectively. Sharing this accomplishment on LinkedIn with the hope of inspiring others to persevere in their own pursuits, surrounded by the love and support of their own tribe. #uitm #bachelorsdegree #internationalbusiness

✨ As I approach the final stages of my degree at Macquarie University, I’ve been reflecting on the invaluable insights shared by industry experts through the MQBS3010: Agility and Excellence in Business unit. In the week 5 lecture, I had the privilege of hearing from The Hon. Jacqui Munro MLC, whose words left a lasting impact on my perspective towards my career growth. 💡 Jacqui's message about “making your luck” resonated deeply with me. Her encouragement to embrace every opportunity with an open mind has shaped how I approach challenges and seek out growth. In particular, her emphasis on co-curricular activities helping us discover our passions made me reflect on the importance of expanding networks and finding connections that align with a shared vision. 📈 As someone passionate about pursuing a career in the automobile industry, Jacqui's insights on the power of building meaningful connections and fostering inclusive, supportive environments have helped shape my approach to leadership and teamwork. Her focus on open communication and collaboration as key factors in driving progress is something I aim to bring into every role and project moving forward. 🤝 As someone at the crossroads of completing my Bachelor of Business Administration at Macquarie University and stepping into the professional world, Jacqui's insights on how saying "yes" to opportunities, even when they seem daunting, have become a guiding principle for me. These moments of stepping outside my comfort zone are where the most significant growth and resilience are built. 🔑 transformative Key takeaways: 1. Leveraging Networks: Building trust-based relationships can open unexpected doors. I've applied this mindset by actively engaging with peers and professionals who share my passion for the automotive industry. 2. Saying Yes: Opportunities often present themselves in disguised forms, and I've learned to take calculated risks, knowing that each experience brings valuable growth. 3. Stepping Into the Uncomfortable: Whether through university projects or internships, embracing challenges has fostered resilience, helping me to develop a stronger professional profile. 💡 I am inspired to apply these lessons in my future career, with a mindset focused on growth, adaptability, and making the most of every opportunity that comes my way. Thank you, Jacqui, for your invaluable wisdom, and a huge thanks to Macquarie University for providing such transformative learning experiences. #mqbcomcapstone
