£881.6M Wasted on Meetings Every Year for Nurses and Midwives in England If we consider that each nurse and midwife loses just 15 minutes per day to inefficient or non-productive meetings, the cost is staggering—£881.6 million annually. Imagine what could be achieved if we could reclaim even a small part of this time. Meetings - We Have A BIG Problem 🫵 in the NHS Last week, I posted that just looking at nurses and midwives in England - IF we were losing on average 15 mins per day (1.25 hrs per week or 3.3% of work time) on inefficient meetings, then this equates to 881M p.a. lost to the NHS in England (just for nurses and midwives). Yesterday, we ran our weekly live research evaluation session, and you can see the headlines below. The sample size is not big enough yet to be statistically significant - but 8 hours per week lost on average!!! Wow - over 20% of the official working week. On the same logic as above - now we are talking circa £5.3BN lost per year. I know these are bigger numbers due to a slant of commissioners rather than direct carers - but they will be paid on average more than the nurses! I could play many tunes with these numbers - but that is not the point. The only point here is that we must stop 🛑 and realise that this is a BIG PROBLEM and one that has to be part of Kier Starmer's Reform or Die agenda.
