Imagine the hours a doctor would need to spend parsing through complex health records to find essential information for each patient. In this interview at HLTH USA with David Everman, MD from Pangaea Data, he explains how their AI-driven platform simplifies this process by identifying critical data points and revealing insights that might otherwise be overlooked. This tech doesn’t just organize data; it helps clinicians reason through medical records like a physician would, enabling better patient care. Day 2 at HLTH made it clear that the conviction driving almost everyone here is that AI can save healthcare. A lot will need to change before that happens, of course, and arguably the defining feature of the necessary change will be how many players need to be involved. "AI could change health on a planetary scale on the same level that penicillin changed health,” Dr. Karen DeSalvo, Google’s Chief Health Officer, told us in her Tuesday keynote, before hinting at this complexity: “But to address a health challenge in 2024, a single drug isn't going to cut it." This is partly evidenced by the delegate list here, which has some pharma, but more tech (many early-stage), as well as healthcare providers, and payors. Maybe that’s also why, despite the programme of C-suite panellists and pumping intro soundtracks, HLTH truly centres around conversations, over and above presentations. You can see that from the show floor: loads of informal nooks and networking areas; start-up showcases; people hanging around trying to work out who their 'speed date’ is. People everywhere, in fact, absorbed in discussions. They can't all have already known each other before they got here, surely? “We can make primary care job desirable by using smart technology” Primary care physicians constitute only 29 percent of physicians work force in US. Half of adult population does not have primary care physician. Highest dissatisfaction and lowest earning potential of primary care makes it undesirable speciality for the best and brightest. 70 percent of doctors chose to become specialists , while most of the follow up from the specialists needs primary care. One solution to improve US health care would be to make GP an attractive speciality to the best and brightest. We can create access to patient care from home and community by using smart tech like health companion ( photo attached). GP would be able to see patient from anywhere. Paper work could be reduced by using AI scribe and EMR would be embedded in call. We can create a new paradigm of health care in America. New person in White House should talk to us. We are creating solution for American Health care.
