Why Every Mompreneur Needs Arthur Brooks' Wisdom Have you ever felt like you were sprinting through life, juggling roles as #mom, #wife, #entrepreneur—all while your dreams of "having it all" slipped away? I've been there, pushing myself to the brink, thinking success meant relentless hustle at the #expense of my well-being. But there's another way—a path to #building a thriving business, being present for loved ones, and actually enjoying the journey. This transformative mindset comes from an unlikely source: happiness scholar, Arthur Brooks. Why did you really start this business in the first place? It's so easy for us mompreneurs to get bogged down in the daily hustle, #cashflow worries, endless tasks—and lose sight of that deeper #motivation that first ignited our entrepreneurial fire. But when we reconnect with our "why"—the impact we want to make, the #legacy we want to leave our children—we tap into a renewable source of #energy, #creativity, and #resilience. That sense of purpose becomes the fuel to overcome any obstacle. Another eye-opening #truth? We cannot pour from an #emptycup. Brooks drives home the undeniable link between our personal well-being and business #success. He shares so many research-backed #strategies for increasing life satisfaction despite the chaos. From #mindset shifts to daily habits, I learned real ways to experience more joy on this wild ride. Because at our best, us #mompreneurs are unstoppable forces. But if we're running on fumes, we'll quickly burn out. Prioritizing our own happiness isn't just a "nice to have"—it's a business imperative. Prioritize #leadership, #happiness, and #purpose—that's how we finally have it all, and build our own #MoneyStory. #KnowYourNumbers #KnowYourWorth #StrengthtoStrength Harvard's Leadership & Happiness Laboratory
This year's Symposium is nearly here! This week, the world's leading experts will gather together in the spirit of spreading the science of happiness to university classrooms, organizations, and institutions most in need of it. We've reached the end of our sprint - the finishing line is in sight! Next week Tuesday and Wednesday we celebrate the 11th r3.0 International conference online. This 'Lighthouse' event called 'Tipping Points on Tipping Points - Building Necessary Collapse Resilience' discusses the most crucial aspects of how to intervene in times of the polycrisis, where there are no easy solutions to our predicament. However, there is space for resilience-building. One should think these aspects should be essential food for thought, but cocooning, retraction and denial are extremely wide-spread. So this conference aims to be a beacon for those that look for direction, 'Active Hope' and community, a place for interactive engagement and learning: - What could positive (social) tipping points help with in countering the whole array of negative tipping points? How could we get there? - How can we live 'bioregionality' and create a bottom-up model for collapse resilience? - How can new economic design serve just and fair transitions to regenerative economies and cultures? - How do we make visible, measure and act upon the need to stay within (environmental) carrying capacities and (social) caring capacities. What's the alternative to our current shortcomings that simply don't deliver what's essential to answer that question? This conferences has an excellent cohort of those leading and stewarding us forward, creating new markets, and are role models for orientation. Full of great examples, we literally think 'Another World Is Possible.' Let's explore together. Get your ticket before Monday 6pm CEST to ensure your seat at: https://lnkd.in/eqrcYJDm. r3.0 Advocation and Academic Alliance Partners can receive a 50% discount. People from the academic and not-for-profit sector that live and work in the Global South can also receive a 50% discount. Finally, we have a small remainder of student stipends (please send enrolment proof and motivation to hello@r3-0.org).

📃In our new briefing 'Universities: A crucial component of UK R&D' we have drawn on the expertise of our membership to capture the diverse benefits that university-led R&D brings to the research system and society. Explore the briefing to find out more ⬇️⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eiSZ4DnA In this briefing, we highlight six key themes and nine case studies, expanding the evidence base on the value university R&D brings across the UK, and ultimately supporting the sector’s advocacy for these vital institutions. Six key benefits of University R&D identified by CaSE: 1. Knowledge and Expertise 2. Infrastructure and Facilities 3. Convener and Arbitrator 4. Civic and Cultural Contributor 5. Talent and Skills 6. De-risking Research and Innovation 🗣️“The financial challenges facing universities across the UK are significant. Our briefing demonstrates that all those that care about the future of UK R&D must also care about the future of our universities."- Daniel Rathbone, Deputy Executive Director, CaSE.

Excellent briefing. Difficult to choose which part to highlight, but I will go with "Universities have a crucial role in de-risking the research and innovation pipeline. These institutions often take early, high-risk ideas to the point of validated proof-of-concept technology, at which point companies are more willing to carry the innovation forward to market." Greenhouse gas removal is no exception. Without discovery research, anchored by universities, there simply won't be the scaled up solutions that we need by 2050 if there isn't the investment today. Not just a UK problem either - there will be nuances from country to country - but ultimately a global problem.

Are you doing #interdisciplinary and #transdisciplinary research or education in the Netherlands or Belgium, and attending the international Inter- and Transdisciplinary Alliance conference in Utrecht, Nov. 4-8 ( https://lnkd.in/ej2PD3bs )? Then we do invite and encourage you to join us at the special National Interdisciplinary Education event that we're hosting on Nov. 4, 13.30-16.00 at the conference venue in Utrecht. As we've seen in previous installments of our NIE conferences and events, this network not being very big, it is useful to have these meetings for exchanging experiences and best practices as we're all in some sense coping with an environment that is challenging for doing ID/TD work - even though ID/TD is a buzzword and used everywhere. Perhaps precisely this popularity makes it extra challenging to determine & insist on what specific expertise and resources are required to support the role of ID/TD. So do join us on Nov. 4 and register via the form below! #interdisciplinarystudies #associationforinterdisciplinarystudies #transdisciplinarity Instituut voor Interdisciplinaire Studies - UvA (IIS)
