Conference Open Education Global (OEGlobal): thank you Adrian Stagg and all the teams from University of Southern Queensland State Library of Queensland Brisbane, Australia, and beyond, for "Open is Everyone's Business": a new opus in the community and capacity building of Open Education with so many passionnate educators and researchers from the Oceanian and Asian regions As we see the open being attacked, we believe in the strenghs of the values of Openness and social justice that were reminded by our keynotes: https://lnkd.in/eb8rY-mN As board of directors (picture below, 9 of 11 were able to join), it was a pleasure to announce Marcela Morales and Igor Lesko have been hired as permanent co-directors of Open Education Global (OEGlobal) : governance and infrastructure are important and more particularly when we need to undertake highly demanding transitions. In the Open fields, we want these changes to be made with the full consent and involvement of those carrying them out. Much is being said about climate, digital, social, and demographic transitions, yet in many organisations, a leadership transition must take place. Reinventing Organizations is a book and a movement that encourages people to transform leadership from within. This is what we as a Board sought to achieve by establishing better dialogue between Open Education Global team and Board members. We recruited and collectively worked with a consultant Ananda Valenzuela skilled in active listening methods and emerging leadership models. In parallel, we revised our bylaws, notably recognizing individual members of Open Education Global, and increasing the number of appointed members to enhance missing representation. Such appointed experts can come from an underrepresented country or have an expertise in openness. We have been blessed that Igor and Marcela accepted an interim co-leadership during the last 18 months. The new bylaws have also installed the possibility of a co-leadership model. Indeed, the tasks and challenges when the leader is alone can be particularly demanding in a global organisation. Through that work, with the commitment of all the team, that we hereby acknowledge, we have arrived at a clear path forward. Open Education Global from now evolves into an organization with hierarchical functioning involving consultative decision-making on specific areas and taking Open Educational Ressources and Open Educational Pedagogy and Practices to the next level!
